Temperature 40 C (adult)

I saw out of hours GP this afternoon and have a urine infection. I started antibiotics, had 2 doses already and will have a third before bed. My temp was 39.6 at the dr but has been responding to paracetamol. It’s shot up to 40.0 and I don’t know if I should call 111 again because I don’t feel worse and I’m due paracetamol in a couple of hours. I have 2 thermometers and they’re both saying the same. I don’t have any other symptoms except peeing all the time and it hurts. I feel a bit sick but my blood pressure, pulse and oxygen was normal earlier today. Google is unhelpful. I’d obviously call if I was worried or felt worse. I just don’t feel that ill. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Could you try ibuprofen also to get your temp down. I always find temperatures are always higher in the evening (there may be a medical reason for that I’m not sure). Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in very soon.

If you don’t feel worse then I’d rotate ibruprfen and paracetamol one every 3 hrs so 4 doses of each in every 24 hrs. The antibiotics will take more than 2 doses to make you feel better.

I didn’t think of ibuprofen, thank you, I’ll give it a whirl. It means I can alternate and get more meds to hopefully keep the temp down.

Remember to drink a lot, strip down your layers, and wipe your face and neck with a damp cloth.
