Dolls house that isn’t pink?

MessyBun247 · 17/11/2018 14:03

DD2 will be almost 3 by Xmas. I’d really like to get her a dolls house to last her for the next few years at least. So many of them seem to be bubblegum pink though!

Can anyone recommend a good dolls house preferably in neutral colours? TIA

There's a great wooden one in Lidl at the moment. Not pink.

MessyBun247 · 17/11/2018 14:05

Oh really? Would never have thought to look in Lidl for toys! Do you have any idea of a price? And whether it comes with people/furniture?

Aldi currently have a white one but with pink windowframes I think.

Pretty much all wooden dolls houses are plain colour that you can paint yourself. Seriously! Where are you seeing all these pink ones?

naicepineapple · 17/11/2018 14:15

Try Ikea maybe? They tend to have plainer, wooden toys. My 2yo ds loves playing with my old dolls house at my mums thinking of buying him a wooden one for home but also getting him a train set so maybe not

Apologies for the source, but it's this one: www.thesun.co.uk/money/7637053/lidls-wooden-toy-range-is-back-and-it-includes-a-50-kitchen-and-40-dolls-house/

We bought the pirate ship for my nephew for Christmas

Funny... I've never seen a dolls house on sale that you paint yourself but I have seen plenty of pink or white ones. We had a lovely white one from Mothercare. And I saw the Lidl one today and thought it looked very nice.

I’ve just got a plain wooden one for my dc who will be 3 soon. I’m planning on painting it cream before his birthday and hopefully he’ll get a couple of years play out of it then we’ll hand it on to my niece. We got it from woodentoyshop.co.uk , most of the dolls houses on there are white/ cream or plain wood.

Believeitornot · 17/11/2018 19:27

You can buy dolls house kits which you construct and decorate yourself. I did this for the dcs a few years ago - was great fun choosing carpet and roof tiles etc

something like this in unpainted

We recently got this hape one for dd. It’s not at all pink.

We both love it. I think there’s a Melissa and Doug one that’s quite similar too. It’s pricey, but really nice.

Sue Ryder shops sell wooden dolls' houses that come in a variety of colours and styles.

Angelinthenight · 17/11/2018 20:20

Kidcraft have cute ones & they do last for years, they do cost a bit but they do cheaper ones aswell x

Perfectpeony · 17/11/2018 20:25

Would you consider building one for her? Or buying something plain and decorating if you didn’t want to do it from scratch. That would be a special gift. Smile

I recently got one of those wooden advent calendar houses from hobbycraft. I have painted it, and bought some extras like dolls house roofing which you can buy on amazon etc. great fun if you were up for a project.

Thanks for all the suggestions Smile

IJustLostTheGame · 19/11/2018 12:05

There's this Fisher Price Little People one at Asda:

direct.asda.com/george/toys-character/electronic-educational/little-people-big-helpers-home/050468263,default,pd.html?cmpid=ppc--ad-------_-dskwid-s92700038898634394_dc&gclid=Cj0KCQiA28nfBRCDARIsANc5BFBM6RtRqTQylAWvR_OldAfO18ZlS-MhZB3yZG3WsF201Kx4nDWAorQaAifBEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I got an older model Little People house with loads of figures are a charity shop when DD was about 6 and DS (7) still plays with it - it's been one of my best buys!

CarrieBlu · 19/11/2018 12:11

We have the light up one from Asda - it’s amazing quality (and huge!) for the £!

Petitprince · 19/11/2018 12:49

Another vote for the Hape one
