I volunteer in a primary school library, and the My Secret Unicorn series by Linda Chapman is very popular.

My 8yo liked Phoebe and Her Unicorn. It's a graphic novel and pretty heavy on snark, so maybe not good if you're looking for a cosy magical adventure! I think the Amazon preview gives a pretty good sense of the content.

Thank you both, much appreciated. I'll look them up on Amazon later on now, dd's been mooching about the kitchen helping me for a while now Hmm

@Leeds2 I volunteer reading in dd's class once a week but haven't come across that series yet. I'll have to have a look for it next week!

She's quite a popular author, also writes the Stardust series (which I haven't found to be that popular), and Sophie and the Shadow Woods. I think she is one of the five (?) women who write the Rainbow Fairy books under the Daisy Meadows pseudonym ..............

Ha ha, I finished the above post and went onto the Children's Books part of the forum. Someone has just started a thread asking the merits of My Secret Unicorn versus Unicorn School. Looked up Unicorn School, and they are also written by Linda Chapman!

That's interesting; I have come across the Rainbow Fairy books - dd has some, and some of the girls at school have read odd ones of them.

I think dd would like the My Secret Unicorn books, there's a set on Amazon for £12 so I've put them in my basket. Not quite stocking sized but I'll find something else that is, I'm sure.

I hope she likes them!

Thanks Leeds, I think she will but I will have a look for them in school's library first before I click to order them.
