Could someone please tell me how is Caspar dressed?
Google images don't seem to agree Grin

And has anyone got good ideas for a DIY costume?
Thanks!

One of the kings right? So crown made from card, long dressing gown with belt and black pumps. At least that’s what he wore at my school nativity c1982.

Sheet folded in half and hole for head cut out.
Belt (dressing gown one fine)
Crown, cardboard, bedecked with glitter, stickers, jewels etc

It is thought that Caspar was a king or wise man from India so rich jewel colours- trousers/ tunic and turban. White beard?

Caspar, long draped cloak, in purple or dark red, gold trim if possible. Headdress a crown or turban with a jewel or two pinned to it.

You could make the cloak like a simple curtain with a drawstring to gather it and fasten around the neck. Have a look on Pinterest for ideas.

Thank you everyone!

So is he not supposed to be dressed in a particular colour?

Has the teacher in charge not given you any idea of a colour? They might want each of the Kings in a different colour. Once you know that, have a look in charity shops for a cheap curtain in velvety or silky looking material, use something like a dressing gown cord or fabric belt for the drawstring ties.

Thanks @AdaColeman - no, I've just read again the note - it says 'can you send a costume (regal king) into school.

Not even sure what a regal king is Blush

Regal King sounds as though they are expecting a crown rather than a jewelled turban then....time to get the cardboard and gold foil wrapping paper out! Smile

Got it, thanks!
And for underneath the cloak - is it just a white/coloured long gown?

Yes that would be grand, make the gown out of an old sheet or similar.

Babdoc · 17/11/2018 11:01

Nowhere in the bible does it say that they were kings. They were wise men - scholars and astrologers, from the east. Some kind of Persian academic dress of the time would be more appropriate, and not a crown - but nativity play tradition tends to expect “ 3 kings”!

Great, thanks!
Off to the charity shops now!
