An annual discussion!

Grin

Think I'm going for Wurthers and Strawberry Laces - particularly like the Bio Lab effect of the intestinal Laces on glass jar. And one decanted, is a rather attractive pink hue.

Although previous attempts at lemon sherbet was a rather unappetising colour. healthy Urine vodka anyone? 😬

Anyone any other flavours?

I made cough candy vodka one year. It was bloody delicious and brilliant in the dark of Feb when we were full of cold.

MumoftheBoyandtheGirl · 16/11/2018 21:11

Not vodka, but I made violet gin. Two hours from starting to drinking 😉

Pomegranatemolasses · 16/11/2018 21:20

Cough candy vodka is a brilliant idea!

Violet gin?! Don't just leave that there and wander off!

exLtEveDallas · 16/11/2018 21:25

Hello Chaos Smile

Kola Cube Vodka is good, I might make that later. I've got Rhubarb stewing and I'll make Rhubarb and Custard in Dec.

I made Grays Herbal (Granny Herbals?) one year. Bloody weird but quite good frozen as a liqueur.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 16/11/2018 21:28

Oh wow, this is all new to me. Do you just put the sweets in the vodca and let them brew???? Shock

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/11/2018 21:28

Parma Violet vodka is all kinds of awesome. As is Jelly Baby vodka! Skittles vodka not so much, but we all enjoyed the experiment

MumoftheBoyandtheGirl · 16/11/2018 21:53

Sorry 😆 I used the small gin and lemonade bottles. Crushed up Parma Violets and filled about a fifth of the bottle. Filled the bottle with basic gin. Put cling film around the lid to stop leakage. Yo can get three of these bottles from a 70Cl standard gin bottle. Put the bottles in a dishwasher and run on the highest temperature cycle. Filter a couple of times through a muslin cloth until clear. Enjoy 😊

I saw a recipe for Nutella 'baileys' that I'm going to try

KeepServingTheDrinks · 17/11/2018 00:29

Now I feel old!

A million years ago, I used to make flavoured vodkas. The best ones were
vanilla
liquorish
chilli
lemon.

Tonight, DH and I made our flavoured gins (which will be christmas presents.

We made
Raspberry
lemon and ginger
toffee
orange
lemongrass and lime

Keep your finger's crossed they are nice!

EmmaGeddon · 17/11/2018 00:34

I've got a litre of sloe gin steeping, and 2 small bottles of Clementine gin on the go. My niece send me some essence of violet syrup from France - violet gin next.

QueenofLouisiana · 17/11/2018 06:00

Ohhhhhhh!!!! A whole new world of amazing gift making opens up to me.

I’m off to get my notebook...

Trumpton · 17/11/2018 06:37

I have raspberry gin, blackberry brandy, coffee rum, weathers vodka and my favourite marmalade gin .
Good Housekeeping have the recipe online for marmalade gin ,it is amazing and even better topped up with Prosecco !
I decant these into miniature bottles ( given to me from local venue) and give them out as mini prizes during a local street dancing event on boxing Day .
The children get sweets !

Heuschrecke · 17/11/2018 06:52

Don't forget the 'dishwasher vodka' Grin

Mar Bar is my favourite, but any nice chocolatey things will do - After Eights etc!

greyspottedgoose · 17/11/2018 07:11

So do the Parma violets/alcohol go in the dishwasher with just some cling film on the bottle to protect them? @MumoftheBoyandtheGirl

Heuschrecke · 17/11/2018 07:19

Oops - sorry, didn't see that MumoftheBoyandtheGirl had already mentioned dishwasher vodka Blush

grey, you have to replace the lid of the bottle first then wrap cling film around it - well, I think that's what Mum meant.

NurseryFightClub · 17/11/2018 07:32

Eons ago I used to make refreshers, fruit salad and black jack vodka. Separately!
This year made rhubarb from fruit and its so lovely it may not last til Xmas. Pretty pink colour too

Spam88 · 17/11/2018 07:37

I made Werthers' vodka last year and was disappointed with the fizzy scum that kept bubbling up to the top of the bottles. What did I do wrong?
