Getting fitted shelves in our alcoves & redecorating. How many plug sockets do I need where the TV is? We have the wi-fi box, phone, TV, playstation, sky box & apple tv there currently with an extension lead

More than you think you need +50%.

Also allow for the weird shaped plugs you get now. Some of the ikea lamp ones are really deep and tall.

More than you think, and stick some USB ones in too if you can find decent ones, can never have enough phone/gadget charging points.

Good point - some mains adapters have a really weird shape and need a lot of room beneath/above them.

Just done a rough count, and in a 3-bed bungalow, with the two of use (but admittedly quite a bit of IT and AV kit) we are rocking 80 sockets - there's 20 in this room right now.

I would recommend getting USB sockets. We recently got all of our plug sockets changed and it's amazing how much it has freed up plug sockets.
