NCS

Has anyone's DC done the NCS after gcse?
DS is unsure as he's very geeky and academic and a bit worried about being away from home but I think it looks fantastic.

I'd really appreciate any opinions/experiences.

Friends kids who did it seem to have enjoyed themselves.
DD1 didn't do it as we had made alternative plans before we heard about NCS. I am expecting to encourage DD2 to do it when the time comes.
If you repost in the Secondary education board you may get more responses as parents there have current / recent teens.
I think if a 16yo is 'a bit worried about being away from home' then that is a perfect reason for them to do it. In 2 years they may be off to university ...
