...and had a MASSIVE spot on your chin, would you still go, or reschedule?

I'm not talking a pimple here, I'm talking some sort of alien growth that takes up a third of my chin, glows redder than a beacon and only gets worse when I try to cover it with makeup!

Probably reschedule, but I'd suggest another definite time and date. The more specific the better. "I'm really sorry, I can't make it" might be taken as a brush off. If you add "But I'm definitely free Wednesday night. How about I meet you at 7?" it sounds much better, to me, anyway,

Tbf if you are somebody who gets spots etc they will see you with one eventually anyway and besides I'm sure they are not going to go urgh no I'm not interested she gets spots!!
