Does telling the DM to f*** off actually work?

I see this quite often in MN threads, but does anyone know if it works? I don't fancy trawling through DM articles lifted from MN to work it out.

Of course it doesn't work. They just lift quotes. They don't care if anyone clicks through and sees the fuck off part.

AGHHHH · 15/11/2018 23:58

I can't imagine they'd care.

Hideandgo · 16/11/2018 00:00

Lol, of course not. I always laugh when I see someone trying to outsmart the DM by cursing in their title or something equally stupid.

nocoolnamesleft · 16/11/2018 02:56

Of course it doesn't work, but it is satisfying. Oh, and the Daily Mail can fuck off.

Redglitter · 16/11/2018 03:23

I always think it's the most stupid thing when I see it on a thread. Same as the ones who try to.put a disclaimer on saying they don't give the DM permission to.use it.

🙄🙄🙄

MrsTerryPratcett · 16/11/2018 04:23

I do wonder if they quote posters whose NNs are FuckOffDailyMail or similar.

Unicyclethief · 16/11/2018 04:40

I liked the one today where someone had sprayed frosting on their new windows, but were very embarrassed and were worried the DM would pick it up. The day even that paper picks up something so fucking dull is the day British journalism is well and truly dead. (If it isn’t already)

Mummydearest12 · 16/11/2018 04:55

I dunno they stole mine about a wedding abroad ....

Mummydearest12 · 16/11/2018 04:56

Not interesting at all ...

Unicyclethief · 16/11/2018 04:59

Did you make sure you told them to fuck off in the thread though? Because there is something a little presumptuous about assuming they would even be interested.

StopTheHistrionics · 16/11/2018 05:11

No it doesn't, it just makes the poster look daft and full of self-importance.

PhilomenaButterfly · 16/11/2018 05:14

They can't show anything that says fuck off Dailly Mail, I think is the reasoning.

StopTheHistrionics · 16/11/2018 05:19

It's daft reasoning since they just pixelate words/names they can't print.

PhilomenaButterfly · 16/11/2018 05:42

True. I didn't say it was my reasoning.

Notatallobvious · 16/11/2018 06:28

Had to read the whole thread to work out you were referring to the Daily fail and not your darling mother

tenredthings · 16/11/2018 07:01

Grin I read the thread as Darling mum too !

ChantillyLaceAverageFace · 16/11/2018 07:09

Yep- I thought she wanted to tell her mum where to go 🤣

Justajot · 17/11/2018 22:39

DH would be delighted if I did tell my mum that, bizarrely because my mum picks stuff up from the Daily Mail and then feels she really has to share it with us.

RitaFairclough · 17/11/2018 22:43

It makes me laugh when people write stuff about the Mail in their posts. They can easily lift quotes and miss out the swearing. And having a username like Effoffdailymail doesn’t work either. They will just write ‘one user wrote...’ or ‘the upset mumsnetter...’ or similar.

Redglitter · 17/11/2018 22:57

Oddly though no-one seems to get upset about The Sun/Mirror etc also lifting threads
