Odd question alert!

I have a very strange question but if I'm going to get an answer anywhere it's here! Other than a baby monitor how could I keep an eye on someone in a different room? When I say keep an eye I just need to be able to hear them really. Any ideas? I need something that will work tonight and I might have already at home?

TIA

Phones? Does the person know you are likely to do this? Do you have a good reason? Couldn't you just .... be in the room?

Sorry just realised it definitely sounds like I'm doing something untoward. They've been vomiting all day and have some health issues but sleep in a separate building off the main house, they're very happy for me to listen in to make sure they're ok.

To be clear there are no spare beds in the house but will happily move them in and sleep on a sofa if needed just thought I'd get some ideas first
