Have anyone left a job to go on a course /study in their late 40s?

If so what made you take the jump?

Did it turn out ok?

Did you find it hard?

Any pitfalls to consider?

Not happy at work and dh has suggested I leave and go do something I would like. I have found a course that looks really interesting so seriously considering this now.

I haven't but I wish I had the courage to do so.
Go for it op

Do the course.

I left work aged 51 years to do a Masters in a related field. I now work in a specialist area and love what I do (I was very disallusioned in my previous role).

I found going back to university challenging, but rewarding. Apart from having no money for a year, I can’t think of any pitfalls.

Thank you both.

I am looking at a course that has nothing to do with what I do right now.

However both your posts have given me a bit of a boost and I have put out a initial enquirer about it.

Would love to hear other peoples experiences though.

I did in my late 30's and it was the best thing I ever did. There were lots of people n my course in their 40's and a few in their 50's all have gone on to get jobs in the field we trained in.

I really miss some aspects of uni, it was hard work but manageable.

I’m 41 and have just started a degree at university!
It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for ages and I just thought it’s now or never!
I knew I would regret not doing it and I didn’t want to look back in 10 years time and kick myself for not doing it.
It is hard, a big adjustment, but I’m enjoying the challenge so far.
Good luck whatever you decide op
