Instagram hacked and no help! Now a porn account! - help!

Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 07:52

Morning! I need some help - this may be long but I don't want to drip feed

My Instagram account was hacked over a week ago (along with many many others it seems). What has happened is that they've hacked into my account, changed the password, email and username and also hacked into my email account and deleted the generic security messages from Instagram alerting me to a potential problem. I only found out when I tried to access my account and it said "not found". I eventually found it after searching some recent hashtags I knew I'd used and saw that it had been taken over by a Russian account. All my pictures still there of my child, dog, bloody dinner...you get the picture.

I've reported the issue to Instagram who sent me a generic automated email asking me to verify myself by sending them a photo hi,ding a piece of paper with a code on. This I have done (several tikes now). It I've had no response.

The hacker has now changed their profile picture again to a scantily clad woman with a link to a porn site but all my pictures are still there of me, my child etc etc alongside the porn!

I've done everything I can think of

*reported the page

  • asked everyone I know to report the page *emailed Instagram support every day *tweeted Instagram *tweeted the press! *written on instagrams Facebook

Various people have reported the page and gotten an automated message to say it does not violate Instagrams policies.

ITS A PORN ACCOUNT THAT HAS BEEN HACKED WITH PICTURES OF A MINOR ON IT 😡😡😡😡😡😤😤😤😤😤😤

I literally do not know what else to do. Instagram are just not interested.

Anyone any ideas? I need to get this account deleted 😭

Sorry of no help I can offer to your situation but I have just changed my password to a strong computer generated on for all my social media.

So sorry you're going through this but thank you for posting and raising awareness.

A quick Google discovered this person who also had their account hacked but got it back... becboop.com/2017/08/instagram-hacked-recovered-account/

Might be helpful?

PiperPublickOccurrences · 15/11/2018 08:15

It doesn't contain a picture of child abuse - you've read that wrong.

It contains pictures of the OP's child doing normal things (presumably fully clothed). It also contains pictures of scantily-clad women. Having pictures of you not wearing very much is not against Instagram's terms of use. Neither is linking to porn. Whatever your personal feelings on the matter, porn isn't illegal. (Certainly not in the US where Instagram is based).

All you can do is carry on doing what you're doing OP, but it's not really "your" account any more as it's not linked to your email/username/password. You need to ask them to delete the photos rather than the account itself.

And use strong passwords.

Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 08:16

Thank you, I've gone through the process that she describes in this blog but I, getting no response from Instagram.

There's no child abuse, just my account, with all my personal pictures which feature my son who is a minor and the account is now a porn account being controlled by some Russian dude. I have nearly 400 followers who can see this but they (the hacker) have now changed the page to private so you can't see the photos, just a link to a porn site, however the 400 odd followers will still aww the pics and some who I know personally have told me and screenshot the page which is still littered with my photos.

I'll try and attach a pic

Here's the account as it's seen by the public.

I won't post a screenshot if the account as it's seen by my followers for obvious reasons.

Thanks piper. No it's not my account anymore but surely you can see why I'd be upset at the best part of 400 people seeing what they think is still my account but now with a link to a porn site next to pictures if my ten year old...no?

OP posts:
Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 08:21

As I've said in my original post.

I've contacted Instagram umpteen times. I've asked them to do something, anything, delete the account, give it me back, delete the photos.....no response.

DerelictWreck · 15/11/2018 08:26

Rather than sending emails they can ignore, can you ring them or tweet them instead? There's no incentive for them to email you back (not that they should need it) but it's harder to ignore the issue of you're on the phone to them or making it public!

Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 08:29

There is no phone number.

I have tweeted umpteen times, several times a day, as have the hundreds of other people who have been hacked. Instagram are ignoring us all.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 15/11/2018 08:32

Yes obviously I can see why you're not happy - but it's a tricky one.

Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 08:35

Sorry for coming across as abrupt. I'm just furious about it. Was hoping someone would have a suggestion I've not already tried but think I've exhausted all avenues.

There's no phone number
I've followed their protocol for reporting a hacked account (several times no response)
I've tweeted
I've facebooked
I've gotten everyone I know to report the account

Zilch. Not interested. Thanks Instagram. Twats!

SoupDragon · 15/11/2018 08:37

Is there nothing in their T&C that allows you to report misuse of photos you own copyright to? Can you at least get your photos removed from the page that way?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 15/11/2018 08:38

How is it a "tricky one" because porn is not illegal?

It's her account and it's been hacked. That's not ok even if they weren't putting these images up with pics of her kids!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 15/11/2018 08:41

What's the motive here anyway. I don't get it. Because you have followers and they think some might want to watch their porn I suppose?

What total fuckers.

Thing is, it must work or they wouldn't do it.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 15/11/2018 08:43

Did you put in your thing to Instagram that they are using images of children linked to a porn account?

That might make them act.

The juxtaposition of children and pornography might ring some alarm bells with them.

Although facebook was cool with images of csa so who knows.

thinkfast · 15/11/2018 08:50

This is the kind of thing where a paper like the daily mail might be interested. Maybe try calling their news desk and see if they might want to run s small story on it. No doubt instagram would then get in touch and help

Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 09:14

Thanks all, yes I've done all you've suggested and contacted the papers but nobody is interested. I too would have thought the porn next to images of my child would have at least got them to pull their finger out but nope, nada!

It's not just my account that has been hacked there a loads of us and it's all Russian accounts that have taken them over. I'm so surprised this hasn't hit the news as it appears to be massive.

OP posts:
Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 09:23

Nothingontelly - yes I've emailed Instagram saying my account is now porn and there are pictures of my child still there but nothing. So infuriating. Just take the fucker down 😡😡

OP posts:
AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/11/2018 09:23

This has happened all the time for years; sadly it is pretty old news.

Do you have any two-factor authentication on Instagram or just a password? Is your Instagram linked to your Facebook account?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/11/2018 09:24

(Not that I think the fact it's old will affect how you feel about it; just that it'll mean papers likely won't care)

bobstersmum · 15/11/2018 09:30

I hope you get this sorted op, but can I ask a really stupid question? Why would they do this if they've changed all the details to theirs anyway, would it not have been easier for them to set up a brand new account? I am confused!

Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 09:30

Yes I know, it's fucking appalling.

No, the two step authentication was not enabled. I think this is how they are doing it.

I have told everybody I know to sort this out in their settings. Nobody I knew had it enabled either! Shocking really!

I have since changed all my passwords for everything I have a password on and stepped up two step security on everything.

Also, I know a lot of people do (as nearly everyone I've spoken to have said they do this) but do not use a similar password or the same password for different things. Us a different extremely random password for each and everything you log into and write them down and lock them away in your safe at home. If they are random you won't be able to remember them.

OP posts:
Tanfastic · 15/11/2018 09:33

Bobstee - I assume because I had nearly 500 followers. It's a ready made account isn't it? It's since diminishing to 300 odd because I've got the word out but I can't let everyone know unfortunately.

I've heard they've hacked people with 17k followers who use it for blogging or their business etc.
