Those with IBS, where is your pain and what is it like?

I keep getting abdominal pain. I think I'm getting 2 different types and I'm fairly sure 1 lot is endometriosis.

However I get different pain, usually behind my hip bones, sharp and sometimes goes across my stomach. It bloody hurts, comes on suddenly, lasts a few hours, goes then I feel sore. I curl up and don't really move. It hurts to breathe.

Went to GP today who thinks it's IBS. I'm not sure tbh as I used to get it before I had DCs and it was different. More regular, always after tea and accompanied by needing the toilet desperately. This new pain doesn't have that. Comes on in the afternoon, no toilet rushing and the pain is sharper. They don't seem to want to look into anything else.

So those with IBS, does this sound like it could be?

Mine is a general tummy ache. Not in one point just all over. I’m also fairly loose when I go to the loo.

Have u tried the fodmap diet. I knows it’s all fashionable and all the rage but it really does work. My stomach was better in four days. I was on tablets for it and no longer need them.

For the past 5/6 years it's always been left abdomen but this past year or two I've been getting recurring lower right abdominal pain. Can be niggly all day pain or full blown can't breath can't move at all pain which last maybe 20 mins then eases off to the dull ache again with no bowel movements. I didn't think the newer pain was IBS related but I've quite a few investigations done for other things and nothing has come up so maybe it is? I'm hoping to see my gastro consultant soon to see what he thinks.

I do hate that Drs use IBS as a reason when they can't/won't think of anything else.

It wouldn't bother me so much if something else had been investigated first, but it doesn't look like they are going to look at anything else. It's been suggested I cut down or out certain food and reintroduce it without any real guidance too. It's just completely different from the IBS I had before.

Mine is like very bad period pain. When it's bad I get very bad tummy ache, painful legs and back too. Not really shooting pains but painful dull ache.

See mine isn't low down enough to be like period pain, and it's completely different as I've really suffered with that in the past too.

I suspect there's a good deal of variation in IBS pain. My own IBS lurches between very loose and urgent toilet trips and being constipated and the pain at different points is not the same. But most commonly it's like a tight band of pressure and ache across my whole abdomen, roughly where the waist band of my trousers is. Also generally accompanied by pain in my lower back (worse on the right side).
