Packet of peas has been in the fridge all day, are they still ok to eat if f I’m cooking them?
Seems like a daft question but I’m doubting myself! Especially with recent stories about listeria insweetcorn.

Boil them. They'll be fine.

I'm confused here. What's wrong with peas in the fridge? Why would they not be ok?

NigelGresley · 14/11/2018 18:49

Sorry, missed out that they were frozen! Would usually cook straight from frozen and not have sitting in fridge all day

But why?

I don't understand

janisposh · 14/11/2018 18:53

Why do you randomly think there is something wrong with your peas?

janisposh · 14/11/2018 18:54

Ah right sorry, frozen peas.

Bluetrews25 · 14/11/2018 19:46

The peas will be fine. The listeria in sweetcorn was introduced at source, it doesn't develop in the freezer, and it would have been safe to eat if boiled properly anyway, I believe.

bobstersmum · 14/11/2018 20:10

Can I ask why you put the peas in the fridge? I'm curious!

NigelGresley · 15/11/2018 17:26

It’s really dull - no access to a freezer and didn’t want to have to go to the shop twice in one day!

I wouldn't.

But that's because peas are the devil's bogeys, j can't bear the smell, taste or touch of them!
