HELP my body rocks back and forth when I try to sit still!

Hi everyone,

This is a very random post but I'm really hoping someone on here may have some knowledge on this.

Basically, when I sit still on the floor or on a stool, where my back is not supported, I can feel my body rocking. It's completely in sync with my pulse. It's such a small movement so I'm not sure if it would be visible to others but I can feel the movement. It's almost like my body is pulsating rather than just my heart.

I used to suffer from health anxiety but have been better for about the past year. I don't run to the doctors immediately anymore. What proved to be the case when I had my anxiety was that a lot of what I was feeling was perfectly normal but I was just so aware (or paranoid) about everything to do with my body that I noticed things I never had noticed before.

This one is worrying me a little but I'm much better at keeping my cool now. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be/ if it's actually normal?

If you are hyper-aware of your pulse; you do feel it everywhere. We used to do this in Drama at school to destress - you'd 'listen' to your body for a while and then you'd be able to feel your heartbeat. More when you were balancing; as you've discovered.

Are you okay? Are there any other symptoms that your health anxiety might be recurring? If not; I'd really try and not think about this.

Thanks for your reply. I feel happy now and don't have that constant worried sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I used to live with so I know I'm much better now. However, I do think I have trouble switching off. I'm always thinking about something, if that makes sense. Even if I try to chill and watch tv all I'll be thinking about is things I've got to get done afterwards. I feel like I've lost the ability to relax, which can't be good for my stress levels. I'm definitely a million miles better than I once was though so hopefully I'll continue to improve. I just don't want this to drag me backwards.

That happens to me too. It's happening now in fact, if I stay still and pay attention. I just assumed it was normal! I'm thin with quite a strong pulse that you can see in my stomach. Reckon it's normal and you don't need to worry.

I do that too, carried - I can't turn my mind off sometimes too. Propanolol helped initially; but I've been off it for a while, so I'm trying mindfulness and deep breathing now.

Thanks all! you've really reassured me Smile going to try to not focus on it so much or if i notice it, I'll just tell myself it's normal. Hopefully that way I'll eventually stop noticing it.

hey- just checking - i’ve got this too literally always stressed, always thinking about what i’m gonna do next, has this eased off over time - it’s been 3 years now. or ?? looking forward to your response.
