Ive impulse bought some cheap flights for 6 nights in Berlin, mid January. I know its going to be cold....❄❄

Any suggestions of things to do/see etc? Never been so want to try and see the main touristy things as well as some maybe more weird and wonderful things...!

I was in berlin last January. It was cold but just jacket and scarf weather. Was alot colder here to be honnest.

I loved it though as was reletively quiet that time of year.

Berlin isnt that cold the beginning of the year. It gets FREEZING in December but definitely milder in January. What are you in to so we can suggest things. Berlins my favourite!

We went to Berlin in March once. It was a bit chilly, but there are SO MANY museums to get inside away from the cold, and there's so much lovely food and beer. We spent a lot of time just walking around as well, especially when it snowed and was really beautiful. Honestly one of the best holidays of my life (though to be fair our usual MO is camping in the Lake District)

On second thoughts it'll be shit, you'd be best off just giving me your tickets and I'll go instead and save you the bother

The East Side Gallery
The Gemaldegalerie
The DDR Museum
The visitor centre near Nordbahnhof
Vabali Spa (if you are all adults)
The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
The Bundestag (need your passport with you to book)

Im wanting to see and do things that will give us a proper 'feel' for the place, rather than just the tourist side of things.

Going with DP on our first holiday together so nice couply/romantic things would be good...☺

Get on the busses no 100 and 200 - these lines go past all the important touristy sights, with a day or tourist ticket you can get off an on again wherever you like (www.bvg.de - turn language to English)

a proper 'feel' for the place:

OK - do an Aldi shop on a friday afternoon in Kreuzkölln.
have breakfast outside at just above zero
try taking the S-Bahn when you need to be somewhere on time

(I live here Grin)

We really enjoyed the Museum Island museums; lots of beautiful architecture and classical history which is probably a bit more of a romantic thing to do together than the Stasi Museum (though we went there too because we're nerds).

Prokupatuscrakedatus We did the last thing on your list - relied on the S-Bahn to get us to the airport on time to go home. The word 'panic' doesn't even begin to describe it...
