SIL asked for a water/sand play table for DN. Thought this was a good idea for DS, but didn't want to pay zillions, so have repurposed his old baby bath and he has plant pots, old washing up bottles and plastic cups to use in it. Feeling like a genius as he LOVES it and he has had hours and hours of play with stuff we had in the house already.

Do mumsnetters have any other quick and cheap (and safe) toy/play ideas for small children..?

A big box. We had some furniture delivered which came in huge boxes (bigger than a washing machine) and the children made houses out of them. We don't often get that size though, so that's a real treat!!!

Failing that,we would get the fruit and veg boxes from Lidl and they would sit in them, put their toys in them and play all sorts of games.
