Bought some apples yesterday and DS has just come in eating one and the inside is a pinky red colour, checked another one and that was too

I’m so confused, I’ve never seen a red apple before - is it ok to eat? Why is it red? Confused

of course they are ok to eat.

Totally fine. It's just a different variety of apple.

Why is it red though?
Have I been living in a bubble never to have seen one before?
