Tell me how you cook cauliflower florets in the microwave?

Microwave newbie here. I used a glass pyrex (with lid), had about 1/3 of a cauli cut up into florets and nuked it on high for 6mins. My microwave is 1000w. I put enough water in to almost cover the florets. It isn't enough time to cook them thoroughly. How long do you do yours for?

You don't need lots of water as it steams rather than boils

By having so much water you are simply boiling it so would be the normal time for boiling.
In a microwave it is more usual to rinse and roughly drain the cauli/Broccoli and just leave a little water in there, basically what 'sticks' to the veg.
Then probably about 5 minutes in total but go for say 3 mins, test with a fork , then depending on how hard they feel, go for a couple more minutes, check again (and move the florets around a bit). You may need to put it on a bit longer.
Once you have cooked Cauli a few times you will get a feel for quantity and time and how firm you like it.

You can get a plastic steamer for the microwave. Complete game-changer.

Just add a tablespoon or two of water to veg and cover.
Frozen veg doesn’t need any water added at all- you’ll be amazed at how much you drain away.
