Carpet help

Hi so been looking to carpet our daughters room and we need 2.5x2.5m.

We went into carpet shop and they would only do 2.5x4m so I'll be paying more for carpet i dont need or want.

My question is if they won't cut to size how come they have so many roll remainents(?) at odd sizes?

Do I just look for roll ends?
Or was the guy just being lazy or saw a woman and thought ill get her to spend more money?
I would just like to know if this is how it is or to try another shop.
Thank you

Carpet rolls come in either 4 or 5 metre widths (usually).

So he was right.

Remnants are usually end of rolls, so will still be 4 or 5 m in width.
