He was late this morning so I did his lunch for him. I made a cake yesterday that was iced on the top only, so I cut a slice in half and turned the top bit over so the icing was In the middle and wouldn't get everywhere. He has just texted genuinely amazed at my brilliance. Who knew being supermum was so easy.......Grin

Butter an iced finger? Butter it? What???

marmitedoughnut · 13/11/2018 14:34

I just lick the icing off, saves all the fucking about.

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/11/2018 14:39

YABU. Sucking the icing off the cling film is a rite of passage. 😬

Cheeseandwin5 · 13/11/2018 14:39

I always want to spend time with my DS baking and cooking.
It seems it has become a lost art especially with todays stressful lifestyle

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/11/2018 14:39

Bugger this isn’t AIBU. foiled again... or cling filmed.

TheVanguardSix · 13/11/2018 14:42

I think it's amazing that your 17 year old texted you! That's pretty miraculous in itself. You've done well to raise a young adult who will not only text you but also commend you! Nice one.
Oh and well done for the cake. Wink
Slightly jealous as DS16 treats me like the local pariah of late. All I have to do is quietly breathe near him and I'm in for it! I think we're beyond cake solving our issue (just wish I understood exactly why I am so bloody embarrassing to be seen with... even if it's just us in the kitchen with the dog looking at us). Grin

I needed that diagram too 😀

purplelass · 13/11/2018 14:47

Thank you zzzzz - all makes sense now Grin

BadMoodBoard · 13/11/2018 14:48

I can't picture it. Can you draw a diagram please?

Boohissmiss · 13/11/2018 14:48

Is there any cake left and if so, can you recreate it, take a photo and post it here?

YABU to only ice the top, who has cake without something in the middle too?

Bobbiepin · 13/11/2018 14:53

That's how you should eat cupcakes. I thought everyone knew that. Kudos on raising a kid that'll give credit where it's due though!

Oblomov18 · 13/11/2018 14:56

Nice Inez Bertrand!!
So glad zzzz drew a picture. Wink

Why are Aldi loaves so huge? I also made late ds1 a thick naice ham, cheese and peri peri mayonnaise sandwich today and shoved it in a container, using the palms of my hand, knuckles and thumb pads to shove it into said box.

youngestisapsycho · 13/11/2018 14:56

I'm still confsed even with the diagram! Why do you have round bread, why does it need to be turned into a rectangle?? I'm not gonna sleep tonight Grin

Ironfloor269 · 13/11/2018 15:00

This off track, but please could you share thid chocolate fudge cake recipe, @Bertrand? And the recipe for icing, too.

Thank you!

bimbobaggins · 13/11/2018 15:00

I need a diagram for the cake as well

cucumbergin · 13/11/2018 15:01

It's for the filling youngest. So if you have round slices of ham or cheese or whatever you can still fit them into rectangular sandwiches.

BearSoFair · 13/11/2018 15:03

youngest the filling was round and zzzzz cuts it to make it more rectangular to fit on the bread better. A genius idea I think I'll start doing with DS2's sandwiches from now on!

Oblomov18 · 13/11/2018 15:06

Well then I'd give up on ferrying them around.
Sit down and work out your angles, for fitting next sandwich / cake into container.

I have just blown my 17 year old ds's mind....
BlueTongueSkink · 13/11/2018 15:10

Oh it's the filling that's round. I get it now. I didn't want to say I didn't get it either!
