Electric scooters...

I’ve seen on a thread that someone said electric scooters are illegal on public roads for children

Yet I’ve seen no end of kids as young as 5 riding them to school

Are they really illegal. I’m talking about the type you get from Argos that you charge indoors not the petrol type

My dd really wants one for her 6th birthday as she has seen her classmates ride one to school (it’s how I know 5/6 year olds are riding them)

But I don’t want to get into trouble if they are illegal.

I don't really know. Although I've bought one for DS7 for Christmas. I think the recommended age is 8+ for the models that I looked at anyway. I gave it a test and it's pretty fast, so I'd say not for the faint of heart. I'll only let him use it in the wide paths at our local park and take it from there. I can't see myself letting him ride along a street pavement
