I am ill. Feverish and a rotten sore throat. Appetite is floating around somewhere to the point where I couldn’t eat a fuck off sized roast but I am hungry. I have been healthy eating/watching what I eat for aaaages and I am sick of soup/noodles
...all I long for is a takeaway (Papa Johns chicken poppers.. mmm..)
or some chocolate...

(but I had a wrap from McDonald’s yesterday after swimming so I Must Be Good. Actually I am convinced that the pool gave me Germs considering I was fine until I came home.)

I also, bizarrely, crave rice. Just a bowl of rice. AIBU to eat a single bowl of plain white rice? Confused doesn’t feel substantial somehow.

What are your ill foods mnetters? I may steal some.

sinks back under covers

Marmite toast
Buttery toast
Crumpets
Kids desserts like fromage frais and those Pots of Joy things
Fishfinger sandwiches

If I'm ill I love a bowl of rice and gravy. Maybe with some peas stirred in.

VickieCherry · 12/11/2018 14:58

Nigella's Marmite spaghetti with butter. Ill food heaven. But if you want plain white rice, go for it!

Poached eggs on toast is my preference.

But if you want rice, have it!

WeeSausage · 12/11/2018 15:00

Rice pudding... Mmmmm...

Andtheresaw · 12/11/2018 15:00

feverish with sore throat eh?

You need garlic soup to boost your antioxidants and make you better.

But as a treat, why not go for buttery scrambled eggs with lots of pepper on buttered toast, or fat chips with cheese and gravy (filthy but delicious)

Babybearsporij · 12/11/2018 15:01

Plain toast.

Eat rice by all means if you want it. Could mix with some chicken / veg stock or Bovril for potassium / electrolytes.

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2018 15:01

Macaroni cheese is my favourite ill food.

Go for the rice if you want it.

When I was ill as a child I got scrambled egg on toast. It was lovely warming and gentle. It was served with a glass of the old, original Lucosade that came in a cellophane wrapped glass bottle. This was likely to be flat, as it would always be sitting, opened, for months in the larder for when people were ill, which wasn't often!

Ice lollies, yoghurt, chicken soup, fruit tea.

Heinz cream of chicken soup with white sliced 1980s style bread broken up and put into the soup to go squidgy. Heaven.

I was ill yesterday. I had semolina and a blob of bilberry jam.

Ioki · 12/11/2018 18:24

And the Ill Menu of the day was

  • five breadsticks (which miraculously didn’t hurt the throat)
  • a mcvities honeycomb crunch - highly recommend - stunning
  • two quality streets (the fudge one and the milk chocolate block if anyone is interested. Although the fudge one is the only decent one anyway!)

What a nutritiously delicious day. Grand. Grin

Weightwatchers chicken soup and chicken noodle soup are my go-tos, maybe with crackers.

lljkk · 12/11/2018 18:31

Greek yogurt. Hi calories for little effort. Maybe with a little jam.
