6 year old only wants nerf guns for Christmas.

I’m after a bit of advice.

So, I’ve been asking my 6 year old what he would would like for Christmas and he does not want anything except for nerf guns.

I’ve been through the catalogues with him and took him to smyths, but that’s all he wants.

He already has around 10-12 guns already. Confused

What would you do?

Buy more bullets? Grin

Nacknick · 12/11/2018 14:47

Same with my 8 year old, it's all he really wants.

Not sure how this happened but I feel your pain OP...

Buy the nerf target and arrange a nerf war with his friends.

I'd probably get one extra gun, some bullets and a target, and something else I thought he would like.

Nerf do a very good water pistol, and I think there are bow and arrow nerfs too. My dd has a special bullet you can put secret messages in and shoot to her friends which she likes.

Ohyesiam · 12/11/2018 15:00

That’s ok, isn’t it? Unless you are anti toy guns, but you say he has some already so guessing not.
Get him guns and a couple of accessories.
You can get him other stuff too, even though he hasn’t asked for it.

By nerf guns for everyone and have a nerf war?

That was DHs great idea. DD was 3 Hmm

I recommend buying targets, nerf bullets hurt.

MissWilmottsGhost · 12/11/2018 15:04

buy not by ffs.

Onlymeyousee · 12/11/2018 16:28

Laser x is a good addition.
We have the target, it’s good fun. Also you can get lots of ‘add on’ bits, like things to carry the bullets etc.
My 6yo asked for an iPhone X Grin
No idea where he heard that but have already informed him I spoke to Santa and said no way.
He has been pacified by Smiggle, funnily enough. Wants a lockable notebook, wallet and safe money box.

TheTroublesomestTribble · 12/11/2018 17:58

How about not buying guns (of any type) for children?

It really beggars belief that parents think this is ok.

Onlymeyousee · 12/11/2018 18:32

Thanks, I will take a look at laser x and laser guns they sound great.Smile

iPhone X?! Shock

For crying out loud, be it a bow and arrow, a catapult, a sword, o stick or a need fun, children have played like this since time began.
It’s perfectly normal, last time I checked 99% of the population weren’t shooting anyone else.
I don’t think he even knows what an iPhone X is!Grin

EleanorLavish · 12/11/2018 18:35

Not sure what a need fun is!

CatAndMice · 12/11/2018 18:41

Nerf laser!

KingIrving · 12/11/2018 18:48

We must have between 15-20 nerf guns and our house is known for organising these mass-playdate, when half the school just comes to our house and you can see 20 boys running and shouting around the house, in and out playing with the nerf guns.

I was sooooooo totally against them, but actually it keeps the boys outside, running for hours and having fun. Even my 15 y DS1 joins the party

FloweringOrchid · 12/11/2018 18:48

Asda sell NERF clothing if that helps!

JanetandJohn500 · 12/11/2018 19:18

Have you seen the Nerf go kart in Costco? That's pretty cool.
Alternatively, could you pay for him to have some sessions at a Nerf Zone (Gullivers World)

Onlymeyousee · 12/11/2018 19:53

Thanks so much! Will check Costco and Asda.

Will also check the nerf zone at gullivers, sounds good.

I wont let my 4 and 8yo have nerf guns. They can cause permanent eye damage.

4yo also shot me in the face from up close with a friend's nerf gun. Fortunately it hit the corner of my eye and not the eyeball/ lid. Has made it very easy to say no to nerf.

EleanorLavish · 12/11/2018 20:45

You can buy nerf face masks which add to the fun to protect your face. Only a few quid on Amazon.

Angelkd · 12/11/2018 20:56

Id get what he wants just as thats all he has asked for means he really wants it & all he will be looking for on xmas morning x

notsurewhatshappening · 12/11/2018 21:26

When I lived in halls at university, our corridor had a laser quest set. Fun times 😀
