Hello! I am looking for a bariatric surgeon in London so I would really appreciate any recommendations.

I am planning to have the gastric sleeve. I am also looking to hear from people that had it done as I have met only one friend who had a very good experience.

thanks!

Shaw Somerset has a very good reputation but not sure he covers London. Certainly he hasn’t an international reputation.

Worth looking at WLS Support Group in Facebook and asking there - you will get lots of answers and recommendations on there.

There is also a thread in Weight Loss chat on MN called Gatric Bypass in 2 months which has lots of ladies who have had/are having gastric surgery and their experiences (sorry, I don't know how to link!)

I had mine down with Sherif Awad via Tonic. The loveliest, kindest surgeon I’ve met and so warm and reassuring.

Done, even!

Sorry don’t know about surgeons but I’m in the south west and I do know they are changing the policy to get it free in our area on the nhs. Also another change in the policy is that if you have had surgery once - even privately you are excluded from surgery in the future and my understanding is that there is a chance you may need surgery say in 10 / 15 20 yrs time
Just worth looking into what your local ccg policy says

St Mary's Paddington are apparently excellent but if you're going private then prof Patel who works at the princess Grace and King's college London. He's one of the best but hugely over booked in his nhs clinics

Thank you very much! I hadn't checked this thread and thought I didn't have any answers. Very much appreciate them. I am planning to go private so will look up all the recommendations.

Merry Christmas!!

Had mine done in August and best thing ever. Was done in Somerset but some side effects are not nice eg nausea. You get use to it tho and eating small small portions is great and you never feel hungry

Thank you Darkest. Did you have the sleeve or the bypass? And if I may ask, how long did it take you to feel well enough to go back to work or your usual activities? Many thanks!!
