What will happen to my non delivered parcel (Hermes is the courier)?

Placed an order online for a Sunday order. It was important for me to have a weekend delivery as I’m not in during the week and I don’t have a safe place or neighbours in during the week.

Despite been nin on Sunday between 4pm - 6pm when the parcel was to,be delivered, no parcel arrived. But online tracks nag indicates delivery was attempted st 16.52. Hmm. No ringing of doorbell or,card through the door. Says redelivery wull he attempted today -which of course is no good, for me. And MyHermes website just says to contact the retailer.

Does anyone know what will happen with the parcel after Hermes try unsuccessfully,to,deliver the parcel today? Will it be returned to the retailer? Or does it end up in some depot with me having to pick it up?

It’s the letter I want to avoid as the parcel is big and I wouldn’t be able,to transport.

I have contacted retailer customer services but the reality is that Hermes will attempt redelivery before, retailer customer services reply.

Hermes are crap!

Mine got sent back to seller who refunded. Annoying as I lost my discount and he only attempted delivery twice

Aridane · 12/11/2018 07:20

Thanks. Hopefully, that will be the case here

Hermes are the worst. Yodel is the next worst. Both ignore my instructions to leave in a safe place. Always. It is fucking annoying.

www.myhermes.co.uk/our-services/parcelshops.html

I would find out where your nearest ‘parcel shop’ is and then leave a note on the door asking them to leave it there for you.

Hermes have a habit of saying you had the parcel attempted delivery but was out ( we had stayed in especially ) a few mins before cut off time , we had one this week then 10 mins later knock at the door and it arrived ,

I would bet they try for next day delivery

You could attempt an online chat with them and tell them the issue. Don't know if you will get anywhere as I think all the online agents work remotely in SE Asia. But hey could contact the courier and suggest they deliver at a time u want

SoupDragon · 12/11/2018 07:33

The only time I had this with Hermes it was because they couldn't fit the parcel into their car as they had too many. They did eventually deliver it on the third attempt so I don't know what happens if they can't.

I complained to Dunelm about their shitty delivery and they gave me a £30 voucher.

Our Hermes delivery driver is amazing. She knows which neighbours are usually at home and will often leave with them.
On one occasion she popped a note through our door with her mobile number on for me to call her when I got home. I called and she brought it round within 30 minutes.

JollyAndBright · 12/11/2018 07:50

Hermes delivery people are usually ‘local’ people, it might be worth posting on your local Facebook page to try to get in contact with the delivery person and arrange a redelivery with them.

I’m fairy certain that the thing with Hermes delivery people (that makes them naff) is that they are paid per successful delivery and can only have a certain amount of parcels in their possession at a time, so it’s detrimental to them and their income to keep hold of parcels for an extended period and to have to keep trying to deliver it over and over, it’s why most of them will leave it in stupid ‘safe’ places or with random ‘neighbors’ two streets away.

Aridane · 12/11/2018 09:40

Really don’t want the local depot option as the parcel is to bulky / heavy for me to get home without a car. (Don’t have a car and don’t want to fork out for a minivan)

Minicab, not minivan!

Parcel not THAT big Grin

Doesn’t appear to be a live chat option on the MyHermes page

Sort of reassuring though that others have experienced this with Hermes and that it seems to be a known problem. May help with the retailer.

I've just cancelled an order with Argos because of this. Yodel delivery. I was at home. Saw the van drive away. He gave me no time to get to the door, ignored note and ignored me calling him.

I complained to the CEOs of both companies. In Argos's case, made it plain they list the sale because of the shitty delivery company.

If we could all do this, they'd soon get the message!

StoneRabbit2 · 12/11/2018 11:30

*lost the sale even!

Aridane · 12/11/2018 11:56

Retailer has responded- they will contact the courier to get the package back and refund.

Let’s hope they have better luck with Hermes than I have had Grin
