Tresemme shampoo - anyone had an itchy scalp using it?

Both my DD and I have had awfully itchy scalps from using it a few times. I’m going to bin it tonight and buy something unperfumed / milder, as my scalp is really itchy and driving me insane! I’m also scratching all around my hairline on my neck, and my DD had a rash behind her ears too. Sad

Anyone ever had an allergic reaction to Tresemme shampoo? What did you use to help with the itchiness etc? Did it clear up on its own, and if so, how long did it take?

Argh... it’s driving me mad! Angry

Yes, me! Just been using a Herbal Essence one recently but that has started to make me itch now.
Was actually thinking of going to a baby shampoo! I work in a school and am worried people will think I have lice as I am constantly itching. (I checked and I don't ☺)

CrispbuttyNo1 · 11/11/2018 21:11

I’ve been using the new herbal essence coconut shampoo and conditioner for the last couple of weeks and noticed my scalp has been very itchy.

namechangedtoday15 · 11/11/2018 21:14

Yes. There are quite a few that seem to affect me, TIGI ones are the same. If anyone has a recommendation for good ones that would be good.

Yes, I used it for a long time but then got itchier and itchier. Currently using all different kinds of shampoo trying to find something which suits me.Best so far is Dr Organics from Holland and Barrett.

Bechetdiagnosed · 11/11/2018 21:22

Yes me!!

Used it on and off for ages but I had to stop using it because I was so itchy. I even had the nit comb out to check my hair as I felt so very itchy!!

CrispbuttyNo1 · 11/11/2018 21:23

I found Lidl own brand cien stuff to be great. I’m going back to that this week.

Rockbird · 11/11/2018 21:25

Actually yes! Not me but DD1 is always complaining that her scalp is itchy and we use Tresemme.

NooNooHead · 11/11/2018 21:26

Oh goodness - so many of us allergic to the chemicals in our beauty aids! 😢🙄 Is it me or have we all become super sensitive to things these days?!

I’m going to get some organic shampoo, or possibly use DS’ baby shampoo as I think it may be the only thing I won’t react to. Either that or use Simple products... or maybe medicated shampoo is the way to go?Confused

Don’t use Simple. I find it very drying. Get something without SLS like Dr Organic or Happy Naturals.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 11/11/2018 21:30

I try to only use shampoo twice a week now. Never use hairspray as that triggers excema on my scalp and ears.

Tubbyinthehottub · 11/11/2018 21:31

Yes, me too. I don't use shampoo with SLS anymore, I think that's the culprit.

CaptainPovey · 11/11/2018 21:32

I use Wella Professionals it's fabby

Gimmeesugar · 11/11/2018 21:41

Yes yes yes! I’ve just bought their Keratin shampoo and conditioner and have had the most awful itchy scalp. I didn’t link it to the shampoo as my hair has also been falling out - I spent ages googling it yesterday.

Has it made anyone’s hair fall out or is that a coincidence

BillywigSting · 11/11/2018 21:44

Yes, I have eczema anyway but my scalp isn't normally affected.

Used très eme twice and had it all over my scalp, neck, ears, face. It was awful.

Binned pretty sharpish after that.

fluffandnonsense37 · 11/11/2018 21:44

I'm allergic to loads of shampoo, my symptoms are itchy head, flaky head and itchy skin around the neck. So many people have an allergy to shampoo but think it's dandruff whereas actually the flakes are from your nails scratching the scalp when you itch due to allergy.

The solution?

Brave botanicals nourish and repair shampoo. Or any Brave Botanicals shampoo. And conditioner too. £4.50 including delivery from Amazon.

Nope, I don't work for them , I promise, but it's brilliant,

CrispbuttyNo1 · 11/11/2018 21:51

The worst one I’ve ever used was the fructis one. It was like my head was on fire

Branleuse · 11/11/2018 21:59

i get intermittent itchiness with SLS.

Holland and Barrett and other health food shops do several different natural shampoos that are SLS free, such as faith in nature or dr organics

NooNooHead · 11/11/2018 22:05

Ooh I think I have found my tribe here... although you all probably don’t want to be a member of the ‘Itchy Head’ tribe! Wink I wish I hadn’t started using the wretched stuff actually, as I can’t seem to stop scratching my head at all in the past week. Poor DD kept having me asking her if she has head lice... and all the time it was the stupid awful shampoo..!

I’m definitely going into Holland and Barrett this week and asking about their natural products...

Yes, I even started getting a rash where it ran down my back! Dermatologist suggested loreal elvive and have been fine since

Temporaryanonymity · 11/11/2018 22:15

Me!! I hadn't actually connected with the shampoo though.

I can’t use shampoo or conditioner with MI in. (Or anything else containing it either!) It is a common allergen for those of us with eczema.

Yvbmioasp · 11/11/2018 22:37

I find conditioner to be worse. They make my eyes and scalp itch.

MrsOrMiss · 11/11/2018 22:56

I'm ok with Tresemme, but Fructis, Pantene and whatever botanicals make me so itchy I have to rewash with baby shampoo. If it's really bad, I have to use coconut oil and leave it on for a few hours.

I use Alberto Balsam apple if I can get it.

falcon5 · 12/11/2018 02:51

Faith in nature or Jason seems to work also not washing hair every day or even every other day..
