How sociable is your 14 year old DS?

Mine will chat away animately with his friends about the latest game they are playing etc. but I am increasingly finding I have to drag conversation out of him. He seems to really struggle to have a conversation with adults and is quite awkward. I just wandered if this is a normal part of growing up or if I should be worried about his social skills. In every other way he gives me no trouble and is well liked at school by his peers and teachers.

Normal phase.

Sounds similar to my 13yo DS. He can be quite good company at times, but it’s like pulling teeth the rest of the time.

My ds is also 14 and the same. He will happily chat away to his mates on the Xbox, phone or when he's with them.
When it come to talking to family or other adults he doesn't have much conversation.
When it comes to speaking to me he basically speaks when he wants, or I just get told to go away I'm annoying him.
