Ok so once during the week and just now Google has texted me with a verification code. Does this mean someone is trying to access my stuff?

Someone’s trying to reset your password. Is it a gmail account linked verification code?

SwedishEdith · 11/11/2018 12:37

Or the've given Google the wrong number for their own account.

CallMeRachel · 11/11/2018 12:49

Yes do you have an iPad or any other device linked to your phone?

AviatorShades · 11/11/2018 14:30

I get this too. My phone's not linked to my ipad, and the pad's what I use for buying stuff online.

I delete,delete,delete.

Fuck off, Chancers.Angry

Wrybread · 11/11/2018 14:31

I do have other devices but none of them were being used at the time.

Do I need to do anything? If someone is trying to get into my account?

Delete and ignore. Do not click on any link that it says you have to use to "activate" the code.

JackSpraggon · 11/11/2018 14:34

Or ever ignore and delete!

AviatorShades · 11/11/2018 14:38

wrybread (and inspired name,bw) I'd say Nah! My phones are throwaway ones I only activate if I'm going away, like "I'm on the train!" Grin, so this is just a chancer by Google, surely?

And I'm still alive and to my knowledge I ain't buying/sponsoring orphan emus or anything else.

Mind you...an orphan emu? Ahhhhh.

Wrybread · 11/11/2018 14:39

Thanks.

It's a bit disconcerting. That's three times they've tried this week.

I'll delete.

I've had 2 Microsoft verification codes this week, I've just changed my passwords just in case someone is trying to hack me

LMW1990 · 11/11/2018 15:12

If you go into your Google account settings you can see devices which are connected and have logged to your account. It tells you type of device, when they last logged in and location. You can also log yourself out of these devices and change your password.

FekkoThePenguin · 11/11/2018 15:17

One account of mine had the wrong phone number (fat finger typing) so I suppose if I tried to reset the password it would go to someone else. I also have some accounts who go by usernames and if I get these confused it would be the same issue.

Wrybread · 11/11/2018 16:00

Grinat the baby emus!

I've checked my accounts and no one has been able to successfully log in, so that's reassuring.

Ignore the messages. And reset your Google password just in case.
