Pros and cons for moving from the private sector to civil service

I’m thinking about moving in to the civil services. In fact I’ve applied for a role within a local prison this evening .

Are there any pros and cons?

Think it totally depends on what role /organisation you were in before, and what civil service roles you are going for. There are something like 400,000 civil servants, all round the country and in vastly different roles, so hard to generalise! Eg civil servants check your passport at the border, see you at the Jobcentre, work in Whitehall advising ministers, work in IT, HR, commercial and digital roles etc etc....

Yes, whilst having a play with google it is a diverse umbrella!

I’m with a large corporate company at the moment. Applied for a management position, non operational within a prison (HR based)
