Where's ok for a budget Christmas meal?

We are meeting DH's family in London before Christmas and would like to take them for a christmassy meal. They are not at all interested in food or going somewhere upmarket (which is good as we can't afford upmarket!). They would probably feel more comfortable in a chain pub to be honest, or somewhere that feels very familiar. It definitely needs to be traditional and British. I'm looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful. I thought about Wetherspoons as I had heard previously that they did quite nice Christmas menus, but this year's menu does not sound appealing. Any ideas?

Are Beefeater any good these days ?

I would say a chain like a Harvester might be a safe bet. Reasonable family pub vibe, but not as “microwaved and nasty” food as Wetherspoons!
