Defrosted steak....

I have two pieces of steak I defrosted on Thursday and I thought I'd use them tonight but it looks as if I won't. What can I do with them? Will they still be OK tomorrow night? Should I cook them now and use them in a salad or something tomorrow? Any ideas?

I have similar in my freezer - we are going to cut into bits and do stroganoff given it takes a reasonable amount of cooking so my very unscientific thought of - properly defrosted , if it went into the freezer ok and if it comes out and defrosted properly & is cooked properly - it will be OK. I would leave in fridge and do a stroganoff if you like it.

:) I defrosted a whole lot to make stroganoff on Thursday-but only had half the people I was expecting to feed- which is why I have these leftover bits! I've just cooked them- I'll do something with them tomorrow. Maybe sandwiches for lunch........

Ah OK - sorry I come from a generation where Marguerite Patten was always on the cookery book shelf - so stroganoff came to mind. Grin DS does one with pasta rather than rice - not authentic but lovely autumn winter food. Yes I would do lovely sandwiches or a robust salad - Bits of steak in a warm semi toasted baguette with some salad , béarnaise sauce - the one in the fat jar ) & depending how much you have to expand , dare I say a few chips Cafe Rouge style )or steak with salad with roast vegetables ( & possibly a bit of baked potato ( either on its own or cut up into salad ) would both be warmly welcomed for dinner rather than lunch in this house. Depending on how much you have I reckon you can get dinner rather than lunch Smile - but then Sunday so assuming doesn't matter main meal middle of day or evening.
