What do we think about Zumba?

It's been around a while now.

Any loyal devotees out there? Have you stuck with it and noticed a real difference in your fitness and/or weight?

Personally it wasn't that fun or beneficial for me. I took up ballroom and Latin dancing and went from size 16 to 8 in a year. Would recommend that over Zumba, but I do hear a lot of positive stories about Zumba too. :) X

It's very 2012!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 10/11/2018 14:19

I've got a friend who does Zumba and she loves it.

Give it a try? These sort of things usually do a free session or two to see if you like it.

Finding something you enjoy is the main thing as if you are doing it for fitness / lose weight purely you are less likely that if you find it fun, well that's true for lots of people anyway, I think.

I do it, I love it. Been doing it since 2010, love a good sweat.

Jungle body is much better Grin

Jungle body looks very much like the Zumba fit classes I did in California, more high intensity. I think a lot of Zumba classes are more like Zumba gold now and need to intruct people to go up levels as they get better at it. The more you put in the more you get out.

I love Zumba! Often depends on the instructor how strenuous it can be.

LockedOutOfMN · 10/11/2018 15:27

I had a friend who qualified as a Zumba instructor and went to her classes twice a week for about 2 years. I loved them. She was a brilliant instructor. I tried a couple of others but didn't enjoy them as much so stopped going when my friend moved away.

I did it for a while. It was fun but didn't make a lot of difference to my fitness levels.

chipsandpeas · 10/11/2018 15:35

I love it it’s prob the only exercise I have loved

Ladymacmuff · 10/11/2018 15:35

Good fun, especially when you have the instructor we do. He's known as "XX- The Hips". (Name a bit outing) when I first went I thought he was trying on with one of the ladies in the class & was very puzzled that no-one else was batting an eyelid - what with all the very close proximity gyrating - turns out it's his ballroom dance partner!
