Washing machine cycles - be honest

mydogishot · 10/11/2018 09:04

How many do you use?

I've just bought new machine and it has 32 cycles. 32.

I only used 3 on my now deceased one!
1 for white or colours
1 for quick wash
Long and hot for bedding/towels.

You can even get wifi machines.

Is it necessary?!

I probably use 10

But I alter those 10 when needed so I'd use more.

Wash 59 mins at 60 degrees
2 hour cotton wash at 40
Cotton and a pre-wash
Synthetics with a low spin at 40

I also use rinse, drain, spin, sports, 14 min wash. And as above sometimes I'll knock the temp up or spin down etc depending on what's in.

Munchmallow · 10/11/2018 09:07

I use one - one hour quick wash (no children or pets in this house).

I've only used the longer washes by accident or when cleaning the machine.

dementedpixie · 10/11/2018 09:10

I use a couple of basic ones but then tailor them as i can add in rinses, pre wash, etc and change temperature and spin speed.

Sitranced · 10/11/2018 09:12

All of them apart from delicates which I'm sure is the same as the wool cycle.

FaithInfinity · 10/11/2018 09:12

About 2. I just vary the temperature for towels, bedding and work uniform. I occasionally use the rinse and spin. All the other ones take too long and there’s no wool cycle on this machine (didn’t double check when it was ordered) so it’s just the standard hour one.

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 10/11/2018 09:14

I use 9, but you can use most of them with or without quick wash so that makes about 15

TheVonTrappFamilySwingers · 10/11/2018 09:19

Cottons hot (bedding/towels)
Cottons at 40 (colours)
Dark and denims
Minimum iron (synthetics)
Quick wash
Woollens
Delicates

So 7 generally. Although do a 90 to clean out machine. And vary temps on other washes too.

GourmetGold · 10/11/2018 09:23

Quick wash 40 degrees coloured clothes, pet fleeces & sofa fleece throws.
Cotton wash 60 degrees (hour & half) for all whites, towels, cloths & bedding.
Wool wash for any wool.
That's it!

SuburbanRhonda · 10/11/2018 09:23

I only ever used 4, but we got a new washing machine last weekend and it has a sports wash cycle! Perfect for DH’s cycling gear which has to go in by iteself as it doesn’t have fabric softener.

It also has an eco-wash option for every programme so have tried that and the clothes come out just as clean as on the full cycle.

I love my washing machine Blush

SD1978 · 10/11/2018 09:24
  1. Fast and slow. And done
Oblomov18 · 10/11/2018 09:26

3
Colours. Ie nearly all washing.
Hotter for bedding.
Whites.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 10/11/2018 09:27

One! Cottons & adjust the temperature - 60 for bedding, towels etc and 40 for everything else.

snop · 10/11/2018 09:29

I also only use two, the quick wash 40 that last one hour for all the clothes and the 60 quick wash for all bedding. So really only 1 setting but different temperatures, I have two kids but really there clothes never get that dirty so only need a quick wash.

mydogishot · 10/11/2018 09:33

So 32 is ridiculous!

All I wanted was good drum size (8kg) and big spin (1600).
They all have too many programmes

nowifi · 10/11/2018 09:42

I don't even know how to use mine just hope for the best!

TwiceMagic · 10/11/2018 09:43

I think I use 3. Maybe 4 for the rinse option if I’ve left it in there slightly longer than intended.

My drier has loads of cycles. I use 4 of them too.

Sparrowlegs248 · 10/11/2018 09:44

4 I think
30° mixed load, 44 minutes.
40° easy care 55 minutes
60 ° stains 90 minutes
Super quick 15 minutes.

PMSwithacockinmydress · 10/11/2018 09:46

I use a 30deg wash (clothes)
a 60deg wash (bedding and towels)
I run the dogs blankets/bedding/towel on an anti-allergy cycle as it shifts the hair
Very occasionally the wool or delicate cycle.
Maintenance cycle once a month.

Always an extra spin.
Sometimes an extra rinse.

Think that's it really.

RaininSummer · 10/11/2018 09:46

I only ever use one really. Rapid wash which allows me to vary time and temperature. Sometimes use spin on its own for hand-washing.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 10/11/2018 09:47

Wool
Mixed cotton
Fast 15 min when I'm in a mad rush.

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 10/11/2018 09:47

3 max - an everyday 40° 1hr 5m mixed load, a 30° 15m super fast, and very occasionally the full whack 60° 2hrs 30m one.

blondeemily · 10/11/2018 09:49

I use 3 -
Cotton
Wool / delicates
Quick wash

TulipsInBloom1 · 10/11/2018 09:50

Mine has 10. I use 1. The 1h3m cycle.

ShatnersBassoon · 10/11/2018 09:51

I use nearly all of those on mine. It's just the anti-allergy (!) I've that I've never used I think.

PivotPivotPIVOTTT · 10/11/2018 09:52

Everything gets washed on a 40° cycle unless the label states 30°
Towels and bedding on a 60° cycle
Trainers on a 30° cycle
Occasionally I will do a quick wash which is about 15 minutes if I've forgotten about something late at night that's needed for the next day
