What can't you do that most people can?

My son has just started cubs and got his new uniform plus a load of badges to sew on. I was given them and asked for them to be on for Sunday's remembrance service. I thought fair enough i sewed a cushoin at school once went and bought some thread and needle and have now been sitting here for 2hours and have taken the first one off 4 times as it's either wonky or looks shit. Blush

So what average things can't you do?

I can't wink

AnotherOriginalUsername · 09/11/2018 22:12

I really (really!) struggle with my left and right, and directions in general. I've done the same commute at least once a day (sometimes 2) 5-6 days a week for the last 6 years but I couldn't give someone directions from my house to work, I just can't visualise it in my head. I also get hopelessly lost in supermarket car parks and I can easily do a journey one way for years, but get me to do it in reverse and I am totally stumped. I'm sure it's some kind of disability!

safariboot · 09/11/2018 22:14

Oh yes, I also can't whistle. I've tried, people have tried to teach me, but I just don't get it. Doesn't matter if I try to use my fingers or just my lips. Nothing.

Fleabag123 · 09/11/2018 22:15

I can’t nap. Always admired people who can cat nap for 20 mins and then wake up refreshed.
I need at least 3hrs sleep or I’m groggy and disorientated

Allthebubbles · 09/11/2018 22:16

Left and right,
I can just about follow a left or right direction but I cannot reliably give one. My husband now knows to look at where my hand is pointing not listen to what I say. I actually have a good sense of direction but can't communicate it.

Myfutureisland · 09/11/2018 22:17

PutYourShirtOnMartin that's really interesting re dyscalculia....I use dots in my head....always have and can use this system for very big sums...it's like imagining a white page with say black dots plus nine black dots...I'm not unique after all...can't be doing with numbers!!

I can't sew either.
I can't whistle.
I can't click my fingers.

AnneProtheroe · 09/11/2018 22:19

Ride a bike, swim or drive. My eyesight isn't that great and my hearing is failing too. #GettingOld

However, I can bake a deliciously moist chocolate fudge cake. Grin

MrsSlocombesPussy · 09/11/2018 22:20

Wink

TinselAngel · 09/11/2018 22:21

Use chopsticks

catlovingdoctor · 09/11/2018 22:22

Nap
Get to sleep quickly/soon after getting into bed
Tie my shoelaces. I do tie them, but not in the way most people seem to- I just can’t seem to ever get the hang of it!

sproutsandparsnips · 09/11/2018 22:25

Burp
Sew
Remember how to operate equipment despite extensive training unless I do it on a daily basis.
But I can remember irrelevant trivia.
And I can spell.

Mokepon · 09/11/2018 22:25

Oohhhh!! I'm so excited that other people do the dot thing too!!

I am a highly educated being and use complicated formula etc but basic arithmetic escapes me on many occasions and I am.forced to use my calculator or do dots!

I am very, very happy with this discovery Grin.

Thebluedog · 09/11/2018 22:26

Cook rice

resipsa · 09/11/2018 22:29

Smile without one eye closing (blame a Bell's palsy in 2007 ).

theliverpoolone · 09/11/2018 22:29

Fasten a bra behind my back.

Largepiecesofcrookedwood · 09/11/2018 22:29

Open a tin with a tin opener- we have never eaten tinned tuna unless DH is at home Grin
The other one that's faintly embarrassing is that I can't do up my shirt cuff buttons. I wear long sleeves for work and frequently need to roll my sleeves up or down, so I either have to have them down but undone or (and this is the ridiculous thing- I'm a proper fully functioning adult) I have to go to the toilet, remove my shirt and attend to the buttons then get dressed again Hmm

duckling84 · 09/11/2018 22:33

OP buy fabric glue and glue the badges on. I learnt that this year after 7 years of sewing them. Lifechanger!

sanityisamyth · 09/11/2018 22:33

Lose weight

TheYoungSharonStone · 09/11/2018 22:33

Blow my nose normally. I can only do one nostril at a time.

OrigamiZoo · 09/11/2018 22:36

@hendal, me too.

I now place the tablet as far back on my tongue as possible then lots of water to wash down.

Honeyroar · 09/11/2018 22:36

Use chopsticks. Despite frequently going to the Far East.

(I'm dreadful at sewing too).

Hellywelly10 · 09/11/2018 22:40

Drive a car, have a long term fulfilling relationship, make custard.

OrigamiZoo · 09/11/2018 22:42

I can't find my way round anywhere, new places scare me so much and I've never gone travelling for the fear of being lost, or learnt to drive as the idea of being in charge of a car whilst lost just makes me deep rooted in fear.

It is quite debilitating and stressful
