If you have a "returned chick" in your nest job hunting.....

......make sure they claim Job SeekersUniveraal Credit/whatever it's called. Even if they don't turn out to be entitled to much if any money, they will get any job hunting related costs paid from the day they make their application. Including fares. My dd has been travelling into London for interviews for the past 6 weeks-and we've only just discovered this. And she starts her new job on Wednesday! Maybe everyone k own this except us-but just in case.....

No returned chicks but bump because I agree it needs to be known.

Do you have a link to details/eligibility Bertrand?

“Do you have a link to details/eligibility Bertrand?”

No- I’ll find one later.

Dd just went to register and was told she could have it- in advance if necessary. She’s living with us for free at the moment- so I think you just have to prove that you’re genuinely looking for work. She had to agree to fill in a job hunting journal with copies of applications, and what the outcomes were.

How close are you to London?

There's no support for job seeking costs here until you've been on JSA or UC for 26 weeks, and then it's at the advisors discretion... (according to the website, I don't think it existed when I was looking for my first job!)

Sounds like a brilliant thing to take advantage of if you can.

I’ve just tried to find a link, but I can’t find one. One source says that it’s at the manager’s discretion. We live a £20 off peak return to London....
