Recommended a TV show like Line of Duty?

Just finished S4 and loved it.

Would prefer something British or European. Not keen on hyper glossy and sleek US procedurals. Love shows like The Shield though.

Another favourite was Spiral/Engrenages.

Can anyone recommend a gritty/somewhat realistic police show on Netflix/Prime/catch-up?

Watched Killing Eve and found it compulsively fun but thoroughly ridiculous.

Any recs?

No Offence on channel 4 is really really good.

I just came across it and loved all the series.

Luther is brilliant too.

I quite liked Unforgotten, as police dramas go. Love Line of Duty, but it's so tense! I have to be relaxed before I watch it or I nearly snap.

Presume you’ve seen Bodyguard (by the same writer as LOD)?

Also Unforgotten on the ITV hub I think.

The Missing - there are two series but not sure where they’d be. Maybe BBC iplayer?

Netflix has just recommend the Sinner series 2, I’m planning to watch tonight as series 1 was great, proper binge worthy.

Haven't been tempted by No Offence as I thought it was more of a comedy?

Loved Luther but found the quality patchy.

Tried Unforgotten on Netflix but found it slow to the point of sleep-inducing. Was disappointed as I usually love anything with Nicola Walker in it.

Have watched Bodyguard, The Missing and S1 of The Sinner. Didn't love any of them.

I watch a lot of telly 😳.

Chateauneuf, first series of Unforgotten was a bit dreary, 2nd and 3rd a vast improvement.

No Offence is classed as a comedy drama, perhaps because of the dark humour in the dialogue, but it’s way more drama than comedy - fast-paced, gripping storylines, good twists, strong female leads and a great script. I love it (can you tell?!)

The Shield was an excellent series but not sure if on Amazon or Netflix.

Definitely worth a watch

If you watch The Killing, watch the Danish version, not the American remake.

The Tunnel - set around the channel tunnel - part England and part France. Several series, absolutely brilliant!

I tried Happy Valley but found the kidnap plot/Steve Pemberton's character off-puttingly unbelievable and OTT so quit after a couple of episodes.

The Killing, the original one, might be an option.

Quick The Shield is one of my favourite shows of all time. Just superb telly.

River on Netflix is excellent - also with Nicola Walker

The Night Manager but if you're in to TV you've probably already seen it.
I adore Line of Duty,recently finished it too. I think it's the best TV series I've ever seen.
