What was this toy evil bear thing called

It was a thing when I was younger, the bear turned evil, you had the toy that you kind of folded the head inside out and it turned from a normal bear to and evil one, and you folded the paws so that you could either have paws or claws. I’m sure there was a cassette tape that told the story of how it turns evil. No one knows what I’m talking about and keeps saying gremlins, but I’m sure it was something different. Does anyone have a clue?

Love toy memories from growing up.

I was trying to think of this a couple of days ago! I never had one but wanted one, presumed they were gremlins but on rewatching gremlins earlier in the week they definitely weren’t those.

Omg, yes that was it! Were-Bears!!
I knew it wasn’t a gremlin!
Off to eBay now haha

Werebear! I had one growing up, Fang, the red one. We have the blue one, Growler, for when DD is a bit older. She also has two vintage Care Bears, a gummi bear, a cabbage patch doll and I'm on the look out for a popple.

Were bears definitely. I've still got some! I keep meaning to flog them on EBay since my kids aren't interested.
