Did something die in DD's room?

I've come home from work, all kids at their dads.

Went upstairs and could hear a low hum from her room, opened the door and no exaggeration there are around 20 of those big fat flies flying around in there Envy. They're really slow and some are lying on the floor just walking around.

Additional info, I only turned the heating on 24hrs ago, could they have hatched in the heat somehow?

Some food left in a bag?!

eurochick · 08/11/2018 21:45

There's something rotting in there somewhere.

WoogleCone · 08/11/2018 21:46

Another vote for rotting food. Maybe go in with a mask on!

HollowTalk · 08/11/2018 21:47

Banana skins under the bed or an old abandoned lunchbox are my guesses!

I managed to lose a sandwich under papers on my desk as a teen. It was the appearance of flies that prompted me to find the blackened oozing triangular mass. I vote for rotting food, a plate shoved under the bed, a mug long forgotten. You need to get some fly paper, or one of those tennis racket zappers from Poundland

Had that problem with my son his room was sticking for weeks I had everything out cleaned everywhere even air freshener wasn't getting rid of smell looked on trusted google to figure out it was his football boots they now live in the green house and his room smells so much better 😂😂..

ThreeGlasses · 08/11/2018 22:01

Google says they are cluster flies which hibernate in the loft and then like to come out when the house heats up 😩

Oh god. That's gross!

CrookedMe · 08/11/2018 22:08

We had a ton of bluebottles appear in our living room. I eventually worked out they were coming from the little vent about the window, so can only assume something small died in there. I sprayed a LOT of fly spray until they stopped coming. There was around 25 in the end 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

I've got one of those (but it wasn't from Poundland, we brought ours in France). They're GREAT!
