Books for a 2 year old?

Nephew is about to turn 2.

I’d really like to get him a couple of lovely books - ideally gorgeous picture books or interactive ones. Basically ones that would be interesting to a young toddler.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

My DS loves Spot the dog flap books. He also really likes the Julia Donaldson Acorn Wood series of 4 books.

My two year old is currently obsessed with 'Little Blue Truck'. It's a nicely illustrated, simple book with a sweet story, would recommend.

Agree with Acorn wood, and toddler waddle by Julia Donaldson, also anything by Jez Alborough , I've lost my Teddy I'd especially good.

The Pip and Posy books are big hits here. Very simple stories and bright, gorgeous illustrations. Written and drawn by Axel Scheffler of Gruffalo fame.

My 2 year old adores giraffes can't dance, the lion inside and the tickle monster books!

Dear Zoo and Oh Dear are loved by my only just two year old.

My nearly 2 yr old’s current favourites are:

Peepo
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

And this interactive one about astronauts. I believe it’s part of a range of similar books with different themes.

DD is 2 and enjoys rhyming books the most. And ones that have the same sort of lines on each page so she can join in. E.g. Gruffalo, we're going on a bear hunt etc

We've recently got 'They All Saw A Cat' by Brendan Wenzel for our two year old and she absolutely loves it, pictures of how a cat looks from the perspective of the different animals, the illustrations are beautiful and so varied.

Miffy books are always lovely too, DD was given the entire collection as a newborn and we are still reading them daily.
