Gallbladder removed 9 months ago......now getting pain after eating!

I had gallstones and so my gallbladder was removed in February. Have had bad reflux prior to this surgery plus near constant burping. Neither symptom improved with the surgery. But recently I’m getting intermittent pain, after eating, where my gallbladder was. Anyone had something similar?

A friend had a gall bladder removed last year but he also had a lot more abdominal surgery olin addition. He has just had severe pain caused by scar tissue from that operation causing a part bowel obstruction. He needed treatment (but luckily no further surgery) so get it checked out as he was told it could have developed to be much worse.

Thanks Kezzie, glad to hear your friend is feeling better. I will mention it to my doctor. I’m starting to worry that it might be pain from my pancreas ☹️

If it is, your doctor will help. My friend told me that where organs are slippery, scar tissue isnt so you can get complications from that. His surgery was 14 months ago, so its a reasonable time after. Yours is probably entirely different but pain is there for a reason so its best to get it checked and treated. Good luck!

This happened to a friend of mine - gallbladder removal did nothing to get rid of her symptoms. Eventually her consultant suggested she try the FODMAP diet and it miraculously worked. She is now symptoms free except when she eats a very few foods.

I have sphincter of the oddi dysfunction which is a condition that can develop post Gallbladder surgery (or pre surgery sometimes). I call it my invisible gallbladder, similar pain and intensity. Sadly fodmap doesn't help it (or so my NHS dietician claims). Mine is medically managed, there is a surgical fix if needed.
