Will I have to leave my job?

I currently work part time Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays, I like my job, it fits round the kids, it's a 24/7 business as well so my hours are good meaning I can do the school runs and work round my husband without huge childcare costs.

The problem is, a close family member needs care, I have been a carer and hca so happy to care for this person, he does not want to go into a home and hates age concern places, the care is already shared our amongst us so I'm happy to help but I really want to help care for him. I won't be able to do Saturday anymore so I'm thinking I'll have to find another job or does anyone know if I can have any rights ie still keeping my other two days?

Could you swap the hours to a different day? Speak to your employer

Speak to your employer. I would bend over backwards to help someone in your position but not all can, of course. Good luck.

speak to your manager, ask if you can drop your Saturday, would you be able to work a different day instead to keep your hours the same. Your manager may be able to give you annual leave, cut your hours, give your carers leave, you won't know unless you ask. Don't rush into getting another job. Are any of you claiming carers allowance and is the person needing care getting attendance allowance, it all helps.
