Has anyone bought one and had a good experience? I can't afford a new one but mine has a rubbish battery these days and often doesn't last even half a day.

I got one for my son from Cex, and it has been great. I think it had a year's warranty too.

Refurbished phones aren't all in the same, some posters will have had a good experience, some won't but that won't have any bearing on a particular one that you might buy.

Maybe try and find one with some kind of warrenty period so that you have some cover if something does go wrong.

I would go to a reasonably respectable store like Cex, not buy something online from someone you don't know.

If it’s an iPhone 6 or later, you can get the battery replaced at an Apple store for £29 - but only till next month.

Thanks Rusty! I didn't know about that.

I got an inexpensive iphone5 for DD from Music Magpie, it was faulty, so I sent it back, they replaced it without quibble, it has a 12 month warranty and the replacement has worked perfectly. I'd definitely use them again.

I bought a refurbished one from Apple and it was perfect, it still comes with their own warranty.

Slatkater · 08/11/2018 12:30

Can the battery in an Iphone be changed if the screen is cracked?

DarlingNikita · 08/11/2018 12:51

I don't know, Slat. My screen is in good nick though.

RussellTheRaven, I can't see any refurbished phones on the Apple site and didn't think they did them?

Very often 'refurbished' just means 'second-hand'.
There isn't much that can be done apart from clearing the memory and giving the case a quick polish.

DevilThatWearsPrada · 08/11/2018 13:02

I have one, works great! Had it to replace my 4 year old phone whose fingerprint mechanism broke.

dangermouseisace · 08/11/2018 13:05

I got one when I dropped mine down the loo. I got it from an eBay shop with good reviews, with a 12 month warranty. When it stopped working after 5 months I contacted the, sent it back and they replaced it with one in better condition than I’d paid for!
