You guys made me feel okay about taking his phone away at night. So I wanted to ask another question.

At what age did u stop waking them up... making their breakfast and making their lunch.
I spend an hour each morning trying to get him out of bed. Getting him down stairs for breakfast and getting him out the door.

He will be 15 this xmas.

I’m still making his breakfast becuaee if this. Becuaee I don’t think kids should go out the door without food in their stomachs.

But I’m fed up of the moaning and groaning.
And the constant waking him up

I make his lunch then I throw half a way as he doesn’t eat it.

I’m tired of the mornings if I’m honest. I have to go to work as well. And get ready. Am I being hard thinking he should do this himself. Or should I still be doing it.

Just a quick update. First morning of getting up with his new alarm. He got up. Grabbed a banana for breakfast and made his lunch. And didn’t miss the bus.

He did well. So not going back to make it again. I did tell him if he wants something like sausage sandwich again. If he is up and getting ready I’m happy to make it for him. But I’m not if he is sitting in bed expecting me to make it for him.

Didn’t know what to do with myself this morning.

Sounds like he will be fine. He might even quite like not being nagged in the end.

My daughter will be 15 in January.

We have pretty much zero interaction in the morning other than to say good morning.

She gets herself up in plenty time, makes breakfast if she’s hungry. Let’s the dog out and gives him breakfast if she’s up before me (depends if I’m home or in the office). Occasionally empties the dishwasher if I ask.

Ds is 12. I wake him up still (he just sleeps through the alarm). He know he has to get breakfast but doesn’t always eat it at home. Today for example he grabbed some crackers and cheese to eat on the bus. I make sure that there are things he can grab like cereal bars in the cupboard.

I want to stop waking him up but I’m up before he needs to be to get ready for work anyway.

This is great news! Well done, OP (and well done him, too)!
