Pictures/shelves on wall above bed... and sex?!

Sorry if TMI or a bit weird! I didn’t know which topic to put this in... home decor... relationships?!

Anyway, I’ve never had any pictures or shelves or anything above my bed, like on the wall above the headboard. I’m moving into a new house soon and excited about decorating and so on. I have a DP and, well, we like to have sex. Will banging of the headboard on the wall cause pictures to fall off, things to fall off shelves etc?? Blush I’m not talking jackhammer, but don’t want to feel we have to hold back BlushGrin (Nearly ten years in what was towards the end a practically sexless marriage and now with new DP 18 months and the sex is amazing!)

We have two canvas above our bed and they have never fallen off the wall.. the headboard is away from the wall so it doesn't hit the wall.

Butterymuffin · 07/11/2018 21:31

Take the headboard off? Or just put your pictures on other walls but not straight above the bed.

Redglitter · 07/11/2018 21:34

I've got a large canvas & something else on the wall above the bed. Never had a problem

Carpetglasssofa · 07/11/2018 21:38

Move your bed further away from the wall Confused

MemoriesOfAnotherFuture · 07/11/2018 21:40

Thanks for the replies!
Butterymuffin that’s what I was thinking, to not put anything above the bed but I keep seeing photos on Instagram and Pinterest of bedrooms I like with things over the bed!

Your poor neighbours

MemoriesOfAnotherFuture · 07/11/2018 21:48

BertramKibbler Eh?

What do you do- just have sex on the sofa? On the bedroom floor? Or do you not have a headboard on the bed?

I haven’t really paid attention to the headboard or anything like that as I say I haven’t had anything on the wall above a bed before, just wondered if anyone had and had had problems/no problem.

PS wall where headboard would be is not hi against a neighbour! Thanks for the concern though!

FFS really? If he's going at it like a jackhammer you are doing it wrong

 I love MN sometimes

I think you'll be fine OP. Maybe monitor how much actually banging goes on next time, I suspect it's not that much and it's all kept within the bed area

MemoriesOfAnotherFuture · 07/11/2018 21:57

donajimena I specifically said not jackhammer in my OP, it was just a joke. However, I apologise for this post, it’s obviously been badly/incorrectly received and I am really embarrassed so I will ask for it to be taken down.

We've had paintings above the bed (and just finally hung one in the bedroom we've been in for a year)

One did fall off once, but luckily when we weren't there, so nothing to do with doing the deed - it was in a rented place, so hanging from a picture rail hook rather than nailed in!

I have hung the pic above our bed relatively high so we can't easily, uhm, catch on it while doing anything Blush

Stephisaur · 07/11/2018 22:07

Our current headboard is fixed to the wall, so there’s far less banging of it!

It was never an issue with our previous bed though. We have a shelf of collectibles above our bed and they’d be bloody painful if they fell down. Talk about a mood killer 😂

Ztst · 07/11/2018 22:09

Just pull the bed away from the wall a bit. Then it won’t hit it.

Wolfray · 07/11/2018 22:10

I think this is a great post! OP. We've broken a bed, but never had pictures fall down. Hope that helps. Grin

MemoriesOfAnotherFuture · 07/11/2018 22:14

Thanks for these further replies, they’ve made me feel a bit better. I have already self reported my OP to mumsnet though so I suppose it will be taken down.

As I said in my OP I was in a ten year marriage that was sexless for a long time towards the end. I’m really happy with my new partner and our sex life. I felt embarrassed to be told “FFS really” and that my post was “full of bollocks”.

Never mind and thanks for the advice from those who did post!
