Than the house in Home Alone 1/2.

Everytime I watch the films I fall in love with the house over and over. It’s so lovely and big and Christmassy!

So is there a better house??

the answer is no

The house in Mrs Doubtfire

I always like the house in Paddington Bear.

DesperatelySeekingSense · 07/11/2018 22:02

3out, I’m Irish, living in Scotland. I completely understand wind and rain :-)

Can I put in a vote for the house in Twilight?

TokyoSushi · 07/11/2018 22:11

Oh yes, the Mrs Doubtfire house, also the house on that beach in the film where Julia Roberts fakes her death to get away from her abusive husband...

TokyoSushi · 07/11/2018 22:12

Sleeping with the enemy, that's it!

TulipsInBloom1 · 07/11/2018 22:12

Father of the Bride house.

The one at the end of Hocus Pocus was it? With the sort of porthole attic bedroom.

TulipsInBloom1 · 07/11/2018 22:16

Love the Doubtfire house facing onto it, but from this angle its a big old no.

I love the dowager house from Downton Abbey.

Every time I see the home alone house I always think "Jesus their mortgage must be huge!"

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 07/11/2018 22:24

Oh the side view of Mrs Doubtfire house really lets it down Confused

There are some good contenders here -downton Abbey House, but sticking with my first one.

It’s the best!

Diane Keaton’s house in Something Got To Give is stunning and that would be my holiday home, and The Brown’s House In Paddington would be my city house, and the house in The Lake House would be a weekend getaway with Keanu!

JaneJeffer · 07/11/2018 22:31

I love the house from When a Man Loves a Woman as well. It's hard to find pictures of it, this one was on someone's blog who is a fan of the film.

pippop, that how they forgot Kevin, their minds were on the mortgage!

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 07/11/2018 22:34

pippop that’s a very sensible observation for such a ridiculous film Grin

Any Nancy Meyers film house.

As proven by some mentions so far and this article www.architecturaldigest.com/story/the-psychology-behind-why-everyone-wants-a-nancy-meyers-house

My fave is probably Meryl Streep's in Its Complicated. Or Reece Witherspoons in one where 3 students come live with her family.

Oh and Nicole Kidman's in Big Little Lies

Heuschrecke · 08/11/2018 08:28

Ooh, I was going to say the Lake House too, CoolCarrie, although it would have to have some kind of superior glazing, heating and air-con to cope with the cold in the Winter and the heat in the Summer!

I like Tom Hanks' boathouse in Sleepless In Seattle too.

Fred999 · 08/11/2018 15:21

I visited the Home Alone house in real life! It's in a really really fancy suburb of Chicago called Winnetka. It was so fancy and all-American there - we bought lemonade from two little girls on a lemonade stall outside their house, and the restaurants were full of beautiful glamorous ladies lunching. And obviously all the houses were ridiculously amazing.

queenofgoogle · 08/11/2018 16:15

I like the house in meet the fockers but the home alone house is my ultimate fave.

Babybearsporij · 08/11/2018 16:24

Sally Field's house out of Steel Magnolias takes some beating.

Ted27 · 08/11/2018 16:36

The Brown's house in Paddington

BusySittingDown · 08/11/2018 16:45

I love the Home Alone house. I think it’s probably my fave!

I’d love to live on a street like that at Christmas where all the houses have classy Christmas lights.

I also love the house in What Lies Beneath and Christmas With The Kranks.

HarrySnotter · 08/11/2018 16:54

Jessica Fletcher's house from Murder She Wrote (though a TV series not a film). It's so pretty and Cabot Cove looks like a super place to live. Only if she's nowhere near though, that woman's a fucking jinx.

I love houses from my imagination. When you read a book (which hasn't been filmed) with a description of a nice house, then I imagine that house and how I'd live there. I'm rather fond of some of Anita Shreeve's houses!

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 08/11/2018 17:03

Fred999 I’m so jealous Envy!!

There has been some beautiful mentions here - sally fields house in brothers and sisters is another personal wish list house!

Have any of you got a house you would hate to live in??
