Suggestions for good budget hoovers welcome! I’m rather desperate here.

When you say ‘budget’, how much have you got to spend? Does it need to last or just see you through a few months?

Finfintytint · 07/11/2018 14:50

Look for second hand reconditioned ones. My local charity project does stuff like that.

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 07/11/2018 14:50

Just a few months would do tbh. I’d say less than £100 but cheaper the better

If you’re very skint I wouldn’t worry about replacing it right now, save your pennies for incase the washing machine or oven packs in! A brush will do the floors.

cjt110 · 07/11/2018 14:50

Can you sweep instead of get a cheap hoover? My MIL rarely hoovers. We hoover 2 or 3 times a day

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 07/11/2018 14:50

We aren’t on the bones of our arse but it’s pretty tightt

Can you try something like freecycle or local facebook selling sites for a cheap one to do for now?

AwkwardAsAllGetout · 07/11/2018 14:52

Look at your local Facebook selling pages. Always lots on there, people are upgrading to cordless before their old ones break I think (we replaced a perfectly good Henry with a dyson a few years ago and sold it on FB for about £50) so here seem to be plenty of good ones about

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 07/11/2018 14:53

That’s a good idea! I’ll have a look

I have two toddlers. The place is a riot. A brush isn’t going to cut it

Gumtree is also a good shout x

faeriequeen · 07/11/2018 14:55

Where are you? Someone on here might be getting rid of one?

Sitranced · 07/11/2018 14:55

Try ebay for refurbished ones.

We just bought a practically brand new cordless Vax for £65 including 1 years warranty.

RavenLG · 07/11/2018 15:00

As someone said freecycle, gumtree freebies, trash nothing, look on Facebook for local freebie groups. The one around us is great.

Veronicat · 07/11/2018 15:09

Argos. Cheap Hoover's start from £30. We got one that lasted us until we could get a decent one.

isseywithcats · 07/11/2018 15:51

weve just bought a vax air stretch pet max from argos £99 and im well impressed, always been a dyson fan but the last one was flimsy hasnt lasted very long and wont go dyson again

ThereGoesTheAlarm · 07/11/2018 15:59

Thank you everyone. I ordered a refurbished vax on eBay for £37.99. Good reviews and should be here for the weekend so we shall see! I like vax but I’ve never been impressed with Dyson, ours broke constantly. I want a shark but can’t afford it yet.
