Significant birthday coming up....what to do?

My DH has a significant birthday coming up soon (ends in a 0) and while he doesn't do any sport, or have any hobbies (apart from watching tv, enjoying a few glasses of wine) he also doesn't wear jewellery (not even a watch) so I'm drawing a complete blank as to what to get him for his birthday or what to do.

I was going to arrange a gathering of his friends and pay for that but when I floated that idea a number of months ago (when I would have been able to book somewhere) he said that would be his idea of a hellish night, so I left it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do in a situation like this?

Depending on your budget, how about Kent for wine tasting? The sparkling wine there is award winning. Or Burgundy? Or Napa Valley?!

Probably what I’d do in your situation is book a really (really really) nice meal out maybe a restaurant with rooms just for you & him. The food here www.northcote.com/ is wonderful and surrounding countryside lovely too

Night away or preferably longer in a swish hotel with a lovely meal or a once in a lifetime holiday!

I'm 40 this month and hate parties. Also have no need for jewellery or hobby stuff.

We're going to Rome for the weekend. DH is getting me a woollen blanket I asked for.
