Mine has to eggs. I have to have rich delicious golden yolk eggs. I don't care how much they cost.

Food for the children. I get their sausages from the organic butcher, fish fingers are bought fresh, best organic mayo and bread. Cawstons press juice boxes,

I have the cheapest of everything and am happy with £3.19 wine from Lidl tho.

BillywigSting · 07/11/2018 18:29

Butter (has to be kerrygold), eggs, cream (real cream only none of that elmlea filth), coffee, bacon, wine (bad wine is basically undrinkable), flahavans oats (have tried own brand and other brands but none of them measure up and it's pennies in the difference)

I used to be happy with any old crisps but now there are so many travellers near me that the supermarket has started stocking tayto crisps. Cheese and onion ones no less. (also red lemonade, fig rolls, Barry's tea and Irish dairymilk, which is basically the old recipe that doesn't taste of palm oil and shattered dreams).

SpaceCadet4000 · 07/11/2018 18:36

Decent cheddar- I'm in the USA, their "cheddar" is an insult to my West Country roots.

Smoked salmon

Good coffee- major coffee snob, would never drink instant.

goodnessgrace · 07/11/2018 18:37

@MondayImInLove do you eat loo roll?!

I agree with tomatoes.

Coleslaw I will NEVER buy, it's so easy to whip up your own (especially if u use a mandolin). Mayonnaise and a little bit of sugar and it's just perfect.

Good coffee - haven't drunk instant for years

CuppaSarah · 07/11/2018 18:50

Sausages. I will not tolerate pink sludge tubes in this house.

CheeseAndOnionIceCream · 07/11/2018 18:52

Cheese and Onion crisps. Have to be Walkers,I've found own brand ones to be pretty awful.

Justkeeprollingalong · 07/11/2018 18:56

Heinz Beans
Yorkshire Tea bags
Kellogg's Cornflakes
Schweppes Tonic

Whiskeyjar · 07/11/2018 19:02

Meat - always buy from the local butchers

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 07/11/2018 19:06

Whisky - Islay single malt is best (Ardbeg the best of them) but any decent single malt is worth savouring. The bottles are expensive but cheaper per unit of alcohol than wine. Having said that I don't buy it much as we have a huge stash from years ago we are working our way through. Cheap blended whisky (or any other spirit) is like death in a bottle. Bleurgh.

Food wise? Cereal bars. I would like to have time to make them more. DH likes Trek bars and 9 bars and they are expensive but I'd rather buy them (or Eat Natural and Nakd bars) than cheap cereal bars which are mainly dust and sugar.

RagingWhoreBag · 07/11/2018 19:09

Vine tomatoes

Freshly squeezed Orange juice

Tetley tea (I know it’s not a posh brand but it’s my fave and cheaper substitutes have never lived up to it!)

Decent bread (went shopping with a friend once and she told me off for even looking at the fresh bakery items and bought a value loaf for herself. I’d rather eat no bread than cheap bread.

Coffee - not a coffee snob as I happily drink Tassimo but will not entertain instant. Tastes like gravy.

Jam - has to be conserve, not necessarily Bonne Maman, but that’s my favourite.

Pizzas. Will only buy stone baked thin crust pizzas or proper takeaway ones. Most supermarket ones are awful. I’d be happier eating the box they came in.

Oh god I’m a fuss bag!

RagingWhoreBag · 07/11/2018 19:14

Oh no, the more I’m reading the more I realise my list was nowhere near complete!

Sausages - must be 95% meat

Bacon - dry cured

Pork - British only, and not value brands. Cheap brands and Danish pork taste like wee.

Lemon curd - has to be Finest or homemade - the other stuff is like paste.

Milk is filtered Blush

Tinned tuna has to be No Drain.

I’m beginning to see why my shopping bill is so high!

Starheart · 07/11/2018 19:18

Butter and balsamic vinegar. I always feel you notice the difference paying more for these products in terms of taste and quality .

SpidersDarkedOnMyWashing · 07/11/2018 19:22

Tomatoes - no food makes me sadder than bad tomatoes!

dementedma · 07/11/2018 19:35

if I didn't have to scrimp - and I do - so pretty much any brand goes I would love to buy Isle of Harris gin or Aribikie Kirsty's Gin as my top tipple along with decent Chablis.
well, a girl can dream.....

On day to day stuff I buy free range egges, heinz beans and Rose's lime juice. That's the extent of my luxury items I'm afraid.

Petalflowers · 07/11/2018 19:53

Pasta - can’t bear value pasta

TheWiseWomansFear · 07/11/2018 21:08

Eggs, coca-cola

I'm an apprentice in London rn, so don't have much choice but to be cheap with most other things. (Still buy Bonne Maman though)

Hollanda · 07/11/2018 21:12

Cheese. I hate cheap cheese.
Sausages.
Bacon.
Tea.
White wine.

CluedoAddict · 07/11/2018 21:21

Coca cola
Daddies tomato sauce
Heinz salad cream
Hovis bread

BonnieF · 07/11/2018 21:32

Butter - has to be Lurpak
Lager - has to be Budvar
Coffee - The real stuff for me, please. I don’t drink instant.
Tea - Yorkshire. I never leave the country without it.

MeOldBamboo · 07/11/2018 21:54

Gin and decent bacon! It has to taste GOOD!

billybullshitterz1 · 07/11/2018 22:35

Yorkshire Tea, Lurpak and finest bread

Sweetooth92 · 07/11/2018 22:37

Proper butter and coca-cola/Pepsi. None of this supermarket own pop or margerine. I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than taste either of those. Tastes horrendous

BillyAndTheSillies · 07/11/2018 23:03

Sausages are very important at this house. Usually get them from the butchers but if from the supermarket I look for 95%+ and gluten free.
MIL has done many abhorrent things, but giving DS Richmond sausages almost made DH go NC.

Racecardriver · 07/11/2018 23:04

Meat. I wouldn’t eat cheap meat ever. If I can’t afford decent meat I don’t eat it.

Keeoe · 07/11/2018 23:40

'President' butter, bronze die cut pasta and NZ Marlborough Sauv Blanc are my non-negotiable.
