Organic eggs, lurpak, nice ham. I simply cannot abide wet slimy ham.

ileclerc · 07/11/2018 13:58

Meat
Cold meat - ham etc
Wine
Coffee

They're the non-negotiables

skyesayshi · 07/11/2018 14:03

coffee, ketchup, baked beans

greendale17 · 07/11/2018 14:03

Cheap meat especially chicken- disgusting and vile!

HiGunny · 07/11/2018 14:03

Wine, coffee, cheese and ham.

MysweetAudrina · 07/11/2018 14:04

I don't like to buy cheap food at all. I never buy value brands if there is another one on offer. I do like special offers though and tend to shop around those and pick up a couple. I just spent 4.99 on a little tub of valencia almonds and 3.50 on a small bar of milk chocolate. I just love good food and will always buy the best available. I spend most of my disposable income on food.

planechocolate · 07/11/2018 14:08

Free range eggs.
Decent coffee.
Proper strong mature Cheddar cheese.

HollySwift · 07/11/2018 14:08

I’d be a nightmare on Eat Well For Less as I’m the least brand snobby person ever.

That said, I much prefer branded tea bags, lurpak butter, hovis bread.

If I could only choose one it would be the bread. It fits in the toaster and it is actually soft!

SinkGirl · 07/11/2018 14:09

Oh yes, proper coffee! Doesn’t have to be expensive (IKEA sell lovely coffee beans) but I’d rather go without than drink any kind of instant coffee, it’s gross.

PinkHeart5914 · 07/11/2018 14:10

Wine, life is just too short for cheap rubbish wine.

Coffee

Meat, always from the butchers and organic

Tinned tomatoes, the cheap value ones are all juice and too sour

SilverySurfer · 07/11/2018 14:11

Meat - must be free range
Hot Chocolate - Charbonnel et Walker
Eggs - free range
Butter - Lurpak or M&S french butter in a black wrapper

RTFT · 07/11/2018 14:13

Beans have to be Heinz as does salad cream, mayo has to be Hellmanns.

StoatofDisarray · 07/11/2018 14:14

Bread. Cranks is the best supermarket brand.

Scifi101 · 07/11/2018 14:17

@MysweetAudrina where were the almonds from?

MaMisled · 07/11/2018 14:17

Just coffee and bread.

TheNewbieStep · 07/11/2018 14:19

Cheddar. Value stuff is like soap!
TK
Sabra Hummus

e1y1 · 07/11/2018 14:19

If choosing just one - Coffee!!

But others - Bread, butter, bakes beans, cheese.... you get the idea

Saying that, Lidl’s potato salad made with cream fraiche is food of the Gods - makes me sad I almost never go to Lidl

anniehm · 07/11/2018 14:22

Food in general, coffee, wine, beer .... it's our main hobby eating! I need to go on Eat well for less, our shopping is out of control!

neversleepagain · 07/11/2018 14:23

I only buy cane sugar and English breakfast tea. I wouldn't want to drink my tea another way.

Jb291 · 07/11/2018 14:23

Loose tea and decent ground coffee. Really good cheese. Decent bread

fleshmarketclose · 07/11/2018 14:36

Tomatoes, always buy the finest range.
Butter always buy Country Life or Kerrygold.
Meat always buy from local butcher and would happily pay more knowing that he sources it well.

TwiceMagic · 07/11/2018 14:39

Gluten free bread. DS2 has coeliac disease so I always buy the kind he likes (which we can’t get on prescription) rather than the cheapest stuff. None of it is ever cheap though.

IAmGrootGrootGroot · 07/11/2018 14:49

@TwiceMagic I'm in the process of being diagnosed with coeliac disease (strong positive blood test, now waiting in the endoscopy)
I'm devastated at the amount of my delicious favourite snobby foods I'll no longer be able to eat 😭

Just derailing my own thread for a moment there.

Agree with lots of these! Especially coffee and teabags!
Although I disagree with ketchup, I used to be a Heinz snob but found that the supermarket own is just as good.

The amount of times I've seen the word wine is now making me want a bottle glass

Wine/Prosecco/beer
Anchor butter
Coffee beans
Heinz beans
Ambrosia custard

YesIDidNameChangeForThis · 07/11/2018 14:58

Hellmans mayonnaise. Nothing compares.
